540i Bootmod3 Engine Oil Error "Unable To Asses Quality"

I just flashed my 540i this evening to a stage 1 tune for the first time. I drove the car around 10 miles and then I did a pull in sports plus. After that I got the warning of “Engine oil, unable to assess quality”. BM3 developers are refusing to help and they’re stating to visit a ‘certified technician’. Has anyone experienced this before? I’m trying hard to get them to help me but they’re refusing to answer any question. Everyone stated that their customer support is good but the experience has been nothing but awful. Can’t get a single bit of advice out of them.

Thought I’d post on here in case anyone comes across this error. BM3 fixed the issue now. They removed the original map out of my downloaded maps, I then had to re download the map and force flash it on the car. All errors are gone and car drives well.

Glad to hear it was resolved through their support. I've seen a few of these oil-related warnings after a DME flash on forums - both BM3 and MHD tunes can cause this.

What are your impressions of the performance after the tune?

It’s completely transformed the car, only driven about 20-30 miles so far but the difference is noticeable. Car just pulls and pulls. Didn’t know what to expect at first, the tune woke the car up. I’d recommend it to anyone with a b58. I want to get some dyno runs soon.

Agree, stage 1 tune really makes a big difference.

Have you considered also getting a transmission tune such as XHP?

I have considered it, but I feel like it’s not really needed for stage 1. If I go stage 2 I’ll definitely get it.

xHP really smooths out BM3 stage 1. Plus the features xHP gives you are just too good. It's pretty nice being able to completely tailor the transmission behavior. I'm going to tweak my sport shift maps more for shits and giggles, but I absolutely love how my comfort shift map is dialed in. Perfection.

Yeah, just send the support team and email during working hours and they’ll help. All I had to do is download the same map again, then force flash. Started the car, error was still there for 20 seconds or so and then it disappeared.

I flashed BM3 back to stock to pass NYS inspection and once the inspection was completed, i flashed back and upgraded to stage 2 and was left with 2 "Oil related" error messages "Low Oil" and "Add Oil immediately". However i was able to clear both codes easily using the diagnostic section on the BM3 app.
