this new g80 hood seems hot to the touch, are cooling fans working?
Maybe I'm a little paranoid but wanted your input g80 23 owners.
Had an F80 and 2021 G80. After spirited driving or easy driving I was always impressed how the entire hood would stay cool to the touch (even the center). Some areas at most would be luke warm but never hot to the touch and I never felt much radiant heat from the car once shut off. Also I would notice the fans stay on anywhere from 1 minute to 10 mins after shutting car off depending on how much cooling needed to be done. I now have a g80 2023, i'm 600 miles in and no matter how I drive the hood will be quite hot to the touch. I definitly feel the heat coming off the car after it's shut off and parked. I also have never heard the fans come on. Temps while driving never go higer than the mid 210 line. At most a hair above that line. SO my final questions, are your hoods hot after driving and do you hear your cooling fans? I did call a random advisor who stated the newer g80 cooling systems are more sophisticated and I won't hear the cooling systems. He said the hood heat is normal. I still want yall's imput. |

The hood being hot is normal, especially if it's in sunlight. I just did a 20 minute drive at night to get gas and my hood is cool. In the winter, there are hot spots that will melt snow and others stay frozen.

Same here--even after not really driving hard for a long time--car gets plenty of time to cool down after spirited drive, as you must do for turbos, fans on and loud! That's why the grill is such an excellent idea to cool off what is a very hot running turbo engine. Oil temp stays right around 210--even going hard, so not worried about over heat at all. Water temp of course varies with fan cycle.

Yeh I've never heard them stay on after shutting car off. I'm in break in and haven't been driving aggressive at all, but the hood is hot enough where I think they should be on. |

After 630 miles into break in, I decided to do some harder accelerations and braking. The temps still stayed at just above 210, but after shutting car off the fans finally were heard. I guess I've been driving like grandma.

Once you get past break-in and you can start operating it between 4000-7000 for an extended time, you will see the cooling system works well and quickly. Most of the time, after a spirited drive, my fan will run for 5 minutes after shutting off.
