Obsessed Garage Active 2.0 Pressure Washer set up

After about 3 months I finally got my OG pressure washer set-up up and running. I only have 15A outlets in my garage so I went with the Active 2.0 over the Kranzle that needs a 20A. I always wanted a pressure washer in general, but when I saw the insanely heavy gas powered thing my dad had it turned me off to them for a long time assuming that's how they all were. It would have been a huge hassle to even get his to my house.

Enter OG and Matt's set up. As he said in an interview - he sells solutions as opposed to products. I certainly never would have come up with this set up. I had a friend and his plumber nephew come over and help me and we (they really) ran water from my basement through the garage wall and to the PW. We (they, lol) ran PEX-B from the basement around the edge of the garage. Also added a bucket filler hose off the side. I'd never done any of this before so the friends and family help was wonderful and I LOVE the set up! I can finally wash my cars at home and take my time doing it. I also added some garage speakers and a power cable reel. I was going to use Cox power reel, but it had a 20A plug and was $400 more than the $95 one I got that will be more than plenty for my needs. And the power cable is even blue to match all of the PW stuff as well as my car to boot.

Also the cheap accessory I didn't know I needed - the little thing that goes under the wheels to keep the hose from getting stuck. Also still working on my stock of microfiber towels.

These posts make me laugh so hard. My friends and family think I am anal about keeping my car clean - they literally have NO idea people like you are out there - none!

Amazing set up, well done.

Let's see some pics of it!

No garage drain. That is one of the challenges. I've been trying to wash it in the garage/shade, but that soap is pretty thick on the floor afterwards and trying to pressure wash it out of the garage doesn't seem to work very well. The I can seem to do is take a broom and push it out, but I think it also leaves some soap residue on the floor. I emptied my wash bucket at the curb and it left a little soap "stain" where I poured it.

That's a handy location of your water. I assume you did that custom for the PW? The cable that comes with the active is crazy long, but I guess if you don't have a nearby outlet it's helpful. I had the electrician shorten it while they were here putting my outlet in. It took him about 3min to do.

yes custom for the pressure washer. i didn't install an additional spigot for my water since my exterior one is about 4ft to the right.

if i add an outlet, i'll definitely shorten that cable. 👍🏼

I got my 2.0!! Best bang for the buck! You can buy 3 of these for one Kransle. I might have to get some of those hose guides since I'm cheap and use tennis balls!

I'd like to do this but my garage is concrete and doesn't have an epoxy coating nor a drain. I have to wash in the driveway. Nice setup. I'm on the fence about the deionizer because of the cost of the resin. I'd likely want it to funnel through my water softener (to reduce hardness and it can be refreshed if needed) to lower the TDS rating before it hits the deionizer. It's around $150-ish (?) for new resin depending on the size and type of setup IIRC.

I was ignorant to this fact before but apparently water softeners can actually increase the TDS. When I checked mine it's actually about 50 higher than my hard water. I could probably realistically wash the car with just the soft water and be fine. The dionizer is only for the final rinse which really doesn't take that much water so I'm assuming I'm going to be able to go a long time before I have to pay for new resin. Hopefully.

Also I don't think you need epoxy. I would think regular garage floor would be fine. You could also do one of the swiss trax variants.

I appreciate the post. I need to test before and after to see what the difference is between them. Are you saying that for the regular washing you would bypass the DI and then for the final rinse you would use the DI?

Correct. Generally you just use the DI water for the final rinse. At the DIY car wash I think this is probably what's labeled as "spot free rinse" on the selector knob.
