I think we're supposed to think of a new slogan? Can't tell.....

Read it as "The Ultimate Driving Machine" is now controlled by a blink of an eye or a gaze of the eye in one direction....
This is NOT spirited, white-knuckle, hold tight driving experiences....so change the slogan to BORING. Last edited by E93Seattle (Racerbruce); 05-25-2023 at 05:53 PM.. |

No. The slogan which I think accurately describes BMW's products today is:
"The Ultimate Gadget Machine". The driving part of their old slogan went out the window with the advent of ~2.5 tonne X-SUVs and various >=2.0 tonne M-Cars. The interior gadgetry seems off the charts to me and adds a lot of weight to haul around. The reason Tesla can manage to pull off the gadgetry is because the Tesla brand has been built on a hi-tech gadget promise. Roll on the Apple car which may usurp "The Ultimate Gadget Machine" on wheels promise. Car & Driver wrote an article on this same topic not too long ago.

I just skimmed it but that's quite ridiculous. I'm sure test runs will be full of Bimmers crashing into other vehicles. My proposal:

Ultimate Nearly-Self-Driving Machine.
When it becomes an actual self-driving machine, I'll be keen. Until then, if I have to sit and watch the road and all the assholes around me, let me hold the steering wheel and do the driving! |

It'll be a paid app. But you can't just not have it, because it'll be tied in with something else like the ability to use your steering wheel.

As a brand they aren't the ultimate in anything, really. However, I do consider my OG M2 my personal ultimate cost/fun/performance vehicle out of all the vehicles I've owned.

If "drivers can go long distances without touching the steering wheel or pedals", are they really driving? Is the Ultimate Driver's Machine really that any longer? |
