Clunking noise/jolt under hard acceleration through low gears 1-3. No noise/jolt while driving regularly. Feels like it’s coming from the front end and middle under body of vehicle. Could it be my engine mounts? Car is perfectly smooth on shifts driving moderately, only say for instance when I cruise at 25mph 3rd gear, then slam the gas after automatic gearbox drops to 2nd to build that torque, the car car will clunk. Vehicle is going to my indie shop on Monday for diagnosis.

Sounds like engine or transmission mounts to me. How many miles on the car? They don't usually need replacement until 100k miles, but if you or the prior owner has been hammering it consistently, they could be shot.

Could be the thrust arms/lower control arms.

I’ve got 52k… other than the mounts and or guibo, I’ve done research and have also came across the possibility of a bad VANOS actuator.. I started to develop this odd “pigeon cooing” sound in my engine bay on cold start, it’s a throbbing rhythm that goes away once the engine is up to temp, Only will do it on idle and not while driving. I posted my symptoms on Reddit and this man posted that he was having the same symptoms and found the video online where a failing VANOS actuator was the culprit for this weird thumping when slamming on the pedal. It’s not outputting the right timing or something causing these symptoms… will be ordering one and replacing my exhaust side, thinking about doing the intake side as well. What do you all think ?

That's good you got to the bottom of it and it's an easy fix.

Great that you got the "clunk" figured out.For a while I was thinking it might be something more serious, as depicted below. I know, I have posted this before, but sometimes I can't resist posting it on a "clunk" or "ticking sound" thread. --Bob

hahaha!
This makes me think back to my C-130 Crew Chief days in the USAF.
Every single toolbox handed out was inventoried at the beginning and end of every shift. It was a pain in the ass. But every now and then, something would come up missing. It usually involved every single person scouring every inch of where that person had worked on that shift. Often including "grounding" the Acft from flying. There were several times that we never found the missing item and the Squadron Commander had to sign an "exceptional release" to let the plane fly again.
100% this still happens today. Especially in the commercial airline world.

When I was at SLC around 1987, an F16 was recalled to HIF because a wrench was missing from someone's toolbox. He returned as an emergency, don't know why as he had already made it out to the range.

I got a free pair of vice grips from my VW garage, after finding the cause of a rattle in my Passat.

Car had been serviced, there's a rattle in the engine bay. I find an oily pair of grips, between the fire wall and bulkhead. Take them back to the garage... Was told "we don't use them for servicing", therefore "don't belong to the garage".

Would of been even better, if they were a top quality pair of grips.

Apologies for a little hijack, but you remind me of a rattle I had in my 1995 Corvette ZR-1 when I first got it in 2012. I had had an '93 ZR-1 for about 13 years before that. The rattle was really bugging me but I couldn't find it. So when it was in for service at my ZR-1 expert's shop I told him about it. He figured it out pretty quickly. The '95 had a slightly redesigned interior with a small closed compartment on the door which the '93 did not have, so I never knew it existed. In it were three pencils rattling around. Problem solved. --Bob
