Ordering individual color thats not listed

Hey guys,

Need some help for who knows,

Im currently in process of trying to order an individual M3 in a color thats not listed on the individualized.

My dealership is saying it cant be done, but in the past I know it can.

Not sure if they just dont want to put in the work or dont know how to go about it....

The colors im eying have been done previously by BMW, any advise on how to push the dealership to get it done?

Thanks!

If your dealer is not submitting your Individual request to BMWNA before telling you what cannot be done, then find another dealer that needs no push.

It can be done. Your dealer either doesn't know or doesn't want to deal with it.

I believe it's an extra $5k on top of the $4.5k paint charge but you won't know until it gets approved and Individual provides your dealer with the pricing.

Good luck.

I believe you are correct, BMW just like Porsche will almost always commission a special color not on the roster (might need to know the special handshake). Just need to pay them more as well.

I would normally agree, but I like my sales rep, have bought multiple cars, I dont think they get many requests like this, so was just figuring out how far to push,
the last time I did individual was back in 15 so not sure if the process changed.

Thanks!, last time I ordered individual was 2015, It was 5k for individual and 2,500 more if it hadn't been done,

Ultra violet and olive have both been done.

You're going to need the paint code to start the process. Your CA will need to reach out to their rep to make the request to see if it's possible first. Then you'll have your CA fill out the form with the request and pricing to start the process. If it hasn't been done in a while or not at all, there will be a very long process for approval and testing.

The Google machine says the paint code for Olive Green is 349.

According to this: https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorco...purple&rows=50

There are 81 shades of purple in the overall BMW catalog, 38 of which have Violet in the name. None are Ultra Violet.

The Porsche paint code for Ultraviolet is M4A

Your CA must contact the VIP Ordering Specialist at BMWNA and submit your special color request for approval, pricing and lead time. Again, there is no push needed - either the CA submit the request or not.

like all indiv its a simple process for the most part with no guarantees lol

Your dealer just needs to submit the request to BMW indiv. Indiv will either accept it or deny it. There is no secret path its just the way it is. Your dealer can be very very persistent and maybe (not likely since dealers have no control over indiv).

some times even indiv will deny colors they have done in the past. I was the first ever to get Grigio Medio back in the day and just had to pay a R&D fee on top of the std indiv color cost so if its a color thats never been done before you will have to pay an extra fee as well FYI

Individual program is getting very restricted for MY24 and further. I won't be surprised you won't be even able to order any individual color soon. From my engineer friend working at ///M factory.

Very interesting considering that most models are offered in Individual colors as part of the Individual colors availability expansion of 2018.

They wanna keep individual colors for special edition ones, from my understandings... but there are always surprises with bmw ! ^^

Porsche makes a huge profit from PTS and Sonderwunch. BMW is missing out if they are considering restricting.

Alex, if the color has been done....then it's really nothing outside of the normal process to request the color, although it CAN be denied.

If it's never been done, it's more of a process. It requires 4 or 5 months for BMW to research and approve, at which point, they could still deny it. Then you're back at stage 1.

Text me bro, I have a contact email of an individual specialist with BMWNA who can work through the whole process with you and assist.

BMW might restrict individual options as it takes additional effort and coordination in manufacturing.

In most OEMs, bean counters take the final call. They could very well manufacture more regular builds with the same effort and gain more profit.

Every request for LSB has been denied. They must be saving it for some reason. Maybe M4CS? Maybe something on the LCI horizon? Who knows.
