Grilling thermometers and accesories

I know it was touched on before but what are your fave meat thermometers? I want to pull the trigger on the MEATER block but are there any other loved options?

Wish there was a wireless one with unlimited range

Any other grilling accesories you absolutely LOVE.

I have no experience with Meater thermometers but they seem popular. I'm a big fan of Thermoworks products.

Bought a Meater but now just use an old school thermometer. Most of my grilling in on my Kamado Joe and when the lid is closed temps rise above 500. First time I used the Meater I got a warning about high temps damaging the probe... like this one.

I have 2 Meaters with long range. I use them, but often have the same problem noted above - ambient temp gets too high for the thermometer and warnings ensue. I think they are a great idea and I like they way the operate, other than this limitation. If I had to do it over again, I'd skip them.

I don’t think you need a meat thermometer. You can tell when it’s done by touch

Don't get me wrong, they work as advertised and on a gas grill they are fine. I would suspect even a KJ/BGE with the top open or me doing a better job of controlling temp it would work. I mostly do steaks and have a pretty good feel for temp based on feel/touch. When using my KJ I like to use higher temps for searing the steaks and that's where you run into the max temp issue.

I get it, I have a decent sense as well but I like gadgets and I like wireless gadgets mostly.
I have i-grill mini for my smoker, maybe I should just try that and save the money

They overheat on a good gas grill too.

I use FireBoard and probes off Amazon. Pretty happy with the results. Highly recommend calibrating them with a boiling pot of water.

Of course, just easier to dial back the flow of gas to manage temps...
