Ignition changes in late production 06 E90?

I'm now driving my second E90 (March 06 production) and I've noticed that the engine start-up seems higher pitched and faster vs my May 2005 production car....like the car is on Red Bull. I did ED and it still has German gas in it....I hope that's not the reason.

Anyone know of any production changes in the ignition system or other parts that could account for this difference?

Love the DRLs and the RDS in the radio. Also, thumb rests and minor stitching changes on the steering wheel are nice. Still getting used to the purple haze on sunny days (Sparkling Graphite)

If u like the post-Sept. thumb rests, wait till you put your hand around the M-Tech/M-Sport steering wheel. You'll love it.

March 2006 onwards cars have slightly different camshafts

Mine is also March 2006 and on cold start automatically revs the engine for a little while, before setling down to a lower idle RPM

Im not 100% shure if this is due to the new camshafts or just the latest software

hey fleet I have a question...I notice when I start the car in the morning and just slightly tap the start-button...the car hesitates and wants to stall, so now I hold the start-button for aprx 3 seconds (or till the engine revs fully). This seems to be working...am I doing the right thing? kind of a stupid question

Fleet;

Exactly how 'slight' are the differences in the camshafts?
Would performance be different?

Thanks.

It was apparently mostly for in combustion chamber thermodynamic reasons and didnt change the power output

I have driven earlier 325i, and they feel the same as my one

It seems that there are a few startup changes being seen in USA cars, and it seems to be linked to ethanol being introduced into the fuel.

What you are doing shouldnt hurt the engine, since startup is computer controlled

I also had a May 2005 production and now I have a March 2006 production car. One thing I've noticed is that my mpg used to be 20.4 on the 2005 car and now on the 2006 car it is 18.4mpg. Also the middle headrest in the back seat has a different button to fold it down, the driver and passenger headrests are much better on the 2006 car. As for the Start/Stop button, it behaves the same way on both.
