New M550

I have had a 440 convertible for 4 years and love it. I traded it in for a new M550. I had toyed around with the idea for a while, and every now and then, I would build one on the BMW site. A couple of weeks ago, I couldn't find it on their site any longer. I searched and saw they had stopped producing it. That was not good. I searched online and found a loaded one in WA. I flew out, bought it, and drove it home to TN.

Nice specs! Mine is similarly equipped, a few items different being a 2020. But the Dynamic Handling is awesome. I think you’ll be glad you got it!

I’m in Memphis. Medina isn’t too far. I bet that was a culture shock to go from MA to small town West TN!

When I drive to Nashville, I’ll sometimes get off I40 in Jackson and take highway through Parsons, etc up to Nashville. If traffic is okay, it’s a more pleasant drive in a fun car even with the size of the 5. I did it in my 540 a lot. Looking forward to some two lane driving with dynamic handling in the M550.

Congrats! Beautiful car! Make sure you take it easy with it for the first 1200 miles. Break it in properly.

It was a 2000+ mile trip home. Cruise control most of it. Never broke 3k RPMs. The manual said to keep it under 5K. I can't imagine what that would feel like. I thought my 440 with the B58 was powerful, sheesh, this thing is nice.

I had the same thoughts on the culture shock! You guys have to have better roads down there though. I’d grab a 10 gallon hat and some boots and I’d fit right in, lol!

Hahaha not quite. You need to go to Nashville for the hat. Jeans, baseball cap, and a farmers tan will get you where you need to go in West TN. Boots optional!

Yeah I was talking more about west TN. Been to Nashville many times. Anything goes there.

congratz! still didn't get a chance to read the break in section of the owner's manual but doesnt it say not to use the cruise control? made it to 347 miles on mine and patiently waiting to hit 1000 or is it 1200 miles?

Thanks, I was worried about that too. I read this in the owner's manual before I picked it up.

Over 2k in miles now, still nowhere near 4500 RPM. Some of the roads on the way home had an 80mph speed limit, I did take advantage of that. Most of the trip was on ECO.
