Make sure that your charging cables are locked
Just an FYI.
I don't own a PHEV but was alerted to the fact that some people are having their charging cables stolen. Lock them when in use if possible. |

Makes you want to wrap an electric fence wire around the cable's sheath and let the thief experience charging up close and personal.

It sucks, but J1772 plug is locked to the car when the car is locked. So why not lock car??
And Wth!! $2700?? Evse made of gold cable?? It is more of a $200-$500 item. Still sucks, but don’t need to exaggerate by 8-10x. I think this is one case where hardwire installation is preferred |

are they profiting from the cable with the connector and EVSE or just the EVSE itself? if connector is locked to the vehicle, they can just unplug, cut the cable and run off with the main unit.
agree that hardwiring if the unit is outside would deter as I doubt they’d be willing to cut into a live wire, and it makes sense to install lock boxes at the NEMA outlet to prevent theft |
