Are Rebates & Discounts Likely to go up or down in August?

Tomorrow is the first day of August and new sales promotions are likely to go into effect within a few days. What is likely to happen to the current rebates and dealer discounts? Currently there are $ 9,900 in rebates and many customers appear to secure an additional 8 - 12% in dealer discounts. We may still be able to secure such a deal. Do we try to get that deal over the next day or two or should we wait to see what August brings?

I literally just hung up from an update call with a dealer 5 minutes ago. I think short answer is that they don't know. He did say that they expect interest to go up, based on the feds raising the rate last week.

Edit: One more observation that might hint that BMW will have to continue, if not increase, aggressive incentives. The three biggest dealers in my city list a combined 110 iX cars on their lots or in transit. This is almost as many as their 4 series at 116 units and more than the 3 series. Their car counts fall way off after those. So, it appears they still have a glut of $100K iron to move in my neighborhood.

Supply and demand. There are far fewer ix50 on lots now than a couple of months ago. Current deals are probably as good as it will get.

We’ll see how this response ages!

A dealer had a vehicle with almost the perfect configuration for me. He offered a $7,000 discount on top of the $9,900 rebate. Based on the posts we have seen here as to the discounts others have secured, if he increased the discount to $10,000 I think I would have pulled the trigger. Let's see what August brings.

I agree supply/demand will define what it is! Indeed, I've seen 2023 models slowly selling out. Counter-point, there is no longer a backlog for building new iXs, so as the dealers will start accumulating allocations they have to use, they'll likely need to find ways to get rid of them.

I'd expect the deals to stay roughly on the same level, even if the interest rate changes. But agree we don't know for sure, and we'll learn about the August offer soon enough.

Although I have not conducted a thorough study, my observations for dealers in NJ has been that they typically have 4 - 8 on the lot and perhaps that many more in transit or production. Given the inventory level in your neighborhood, what kind of deals are you seeing?

They would have given me around 10% (or a little lower) off MSRP for cars on the lot, but they were not willing to go that high for an order. My bummer is that I wanted heated and cooled seats, but few of the cars they ordered had both.

Yeah even I skipped ordering this month. Really hoping incentives stay the same through early Fall. Inventory is definitely on the up here compared to early summer.

I just bought in late June and at that time some dealers had over 20 iXs. I just looked at 4 area dealers and they each show 6-8.

mnx5er He was right. Actually inventory on lot and transit is quite high and there is competition from other manufacturers. So it makes sense for BMW to keep this going. My guess is this will continue till Jan 3rd 2024. Let's see.
