2024 bmw x7 m60i brake booster malfunction
2024 bmw x7 M60i 500 miles.
Started having issues with messages displayed parking brake malfunction . Brake system and chassis stabilization. Avoid harsh breaking. The car then cleared up the message and was fine. The next morning it did not start and found the break pedal was very stiff. Couldn't start it at all. Called roadside assistance they had to pop the hood and press the start button just to put it in neutral. Got it to the dealership. Got a call from service advisor that it's the brake booster and he explained to me that most models 23 and 24 all models with highway assist model's are having this issue. To make things worse he said it can take over 4 weeks just to get this part from Germany. Why? Because they are putting the new brake booster in the line up to produce the vehicles . Call bmw north America and open up the case. 1800 831 1117 and tell them what's going on. You need to do this because if you are making payments you can bring a case and be reimbursed. Or bring the lemon law what ever state you live in. Either way you need to call them and put them on notice. Also new i8 update is available to i8.5 the number is B652023.5. Hope all this helps. Gl |

the factory gets first dibs on parts, so only the excess capacity beyond that is going for repairs. unfair? yes. but unfortunately the way it is.

The item (brake booster) won't be available until mid September With that being said down time in shop will be around 5 to 6 weeks. I called BMW north America. They told me I have 2 options 1. Open a case for DOWNTIME COMPENSATION how that works is when you get your car back they will calculate how much your payments is or if you don't have payments they will calculate depreciation. And case manager will make you an offer. 2. Purchase buy back. That's like a Lemmon law status. They will get intouch with the dealer and see how long the vehicle was in the shop. At that point they will buy the vehicle back. Keep in mind leased vehicles can't get this only payment adjustment. We purchased the car. My wife has a sour taste now from all this bs and with all this going on so depending on how long it takes most likely we will go under purchase buy back. And figure out if she still wants a BMW. Keep every one updated. |

Same exact issue with my 2024 X6 at 1,900 miles. Purchased 5/28. Dealer said 4-6 weeks to get part from Germany.
How does the buyback work? Can I go ahead and request the buyback now? |

The thing that is so inexplicable about this problem is that I can see no clear connection between the victims of the malfunction. If for example we could point to a bad production run of the brake boosters making their way into assembly that would make sense, or if older coding caused the failure on limited production I could understand that, but these common scenarios do not appear to be the case.
First I have seen it suggested as a covid/2021-2022 production issue, next as only affecting 2023 models and then only with low mileage-all these presumptions have been shown to be inaccurate. We have members with high milage 2023's that fail and still others with fresh of the floor 2024's M60i's and Alpina's, that fail. It's a mystery. My extended road trip plans have become less appealing ! Hope BMW will do a better job going forward getting these replacement parts quickly to the customer/drivers. It may not be the brake booster
I have a 2024 x7 purchased in early June which had the same brake issue and warnings as stated above. After a little over a month they replaced the brake booster and I picked it up yesterday. I drive it about 6 miles and a low brake fluid light came on and said it was okay to drive. I drive it back to the dealership and on the way on a main highway a full brake failure occurs and a warning to STOP IMMEDIATELY pops up. I went to press the brakes and they had gone completely stiff and I had to cruise until I could slam on the brakes hard enough to get the car stopped. The car had to be towed to the dealership.
Unfortunately for those of us that have waited so long for a brake booster, it seems that may not be the actual fix. I told the dealership I have a one year old (luckily not in the car) and I'm not willing to be the guinea pig for them to figure out what's actually wrong. Now it worries me to even get switched into a newer X7 because if the brake booster isn't actually the issue then did they really fix the issue in the new productions (June/July)? My dealership currently has 3 x7s with the same "brake booster" issue. A recall has to be coming right?? |

Wow, that sucks! Must have been nerve-wracking!
Hope BMW has a decent "limp mode" to get to a safe stop! |

The dealership said they test drove the car for 15-20 miles after the booster replacement and that since the engineers were involved they had a checklist they had to verify with the engineers before the car was approved for release or something of that nature.

Can I ask you what work was done to the vehicle? Brake booster? Did they also update the i8 to i8.5? Sounds to me like they didn't bleed the brakes properly and fill up the fluid properly. But to lose the brakes completely? Is odd since it's connected to vacuum system. Please let me know what the SA says . You won't probably hear from him until Tuesday after the holiday. |

@JPParker07-Do you by chance know your production date, and how many miles did you have when you had first failure? Were there any early warning signs at all? Very sorry to hear you going through this - unbelievable.

When the car went in the shop had around 570 miles It's been there since August 7th it's ready since August 29th I didn't have a chance to pick it up yet. But this is the work that was done I haven't picked up the car yet but I just got an email and it states these 3451601 replacing hydraulic unit 105 WAB 1-34-50-5-a8b -118 brake booster 343022 1-34-51-6-893 -390 seal brake booster 348520 2-81-22-0-142-156 brake fluid 832560 2-7-14-6-890-655 p1800305biking collar nut 889520 And then is on another page Regarding i8.5 recall B652023 recall operating system Cause campaign 84061 There's more about the i8.5 but to much to type Hope all this helps I forgot there something about a faulty code Something like program/encode control units include letting faulty memory 105 WAB Keep in mind when my car went in it had i8.0 not sure if that helps. It didn't have i8.5 but for some reason it states it had a recall. And now I am hearing something about knee airbag from other people not the DEALER |

Another reason not to check the box with all
the driving Nannie’s. Sounds like this only occurs on vehicles with all the driving assist bullshit. I always omit that on my MB and BMW as well as my trucks if at all possible when I order. Unfortunately I am on borrowed time until it becomes Govt mandated I suppose. Like ceiling fans, gas stoves, or light bulbs. Put your phones down and Drive! Don’t be a robot!
