There’s someone in my local area selling his x3mc with pretty low mileage( 30,000 km on the odo). His car is overpriced in our market however he says on the listing it was ONLY his grocery getter when I know he has tracked it multiple times (I have footage) and his tyres are obviously very worn out. Honestly this is obviously not the first time someone has been disingenuous on a car listing and I dont ever go look at listing with that expectation (would be nice tho!). I would like your opinion on whether should I try use this information to get a better price (morally idk how I or this forum feel would about this, dont think it’ll end well either) or should I just avoid the listing.

If you know he's not being truthful with regards to usage, what else isn't he being truthful about? I'd pass regardless of price.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of owners who really take care of their cars, and don't abuse them or hide things.
What's the sellers story for "getting rid of the car" are they remorseful or happy to get rid of it...??
The sellers "attitude" tells a lot on how the car was treated...

A very detailed look at the car will usually tell how it has been cared for.
Look for things that can't be "covered up" or hidden by a quick detail job:
- Condition of the tires (as you have stated)
- Brake rotors & pads (are they in bad shape or extremely dust covered)
- Curb rash on the wheels, just in one spot on one or on all of them?
- Look under the car, any fluid leaks, is the bottom covered in dirt or reasonably clean?
- Under hood appearance, look in the cracks and lower parts of the engine, see any fluids of a bunch of dirt...
- Paint and body, and poor paint color matches or "waves" in the body...
- Excessive paint chips on the front or rock pits in the windshield...
- Interior carpet and trim look like it's been abused at all?
- Seat leather cracked worn or dried out, steering wheel look abused?
- Any mods done to the car (exhaust, cosmetics etc) and how well were they done (if they didn't care to do them right, they probably didn't care about a lot of things)...
- Fluid leaking from any of the struts?
- Of course any warning lights
- Unusual sounds when idling, or driving...
- Where the car is coming from (we have a problem here in the US of flood or hurricane damaged cars being sold in other states where the buyer is unaware)

You can tell a lot about how the car was cared for by looking carefully at places where a $200+ detail, or dealer lot guys, won't touch.

There is always some risk, even new cars are a risk, that's why we insist on a warranty

Sorry OP for hijacking. I would pass on that car as well since owner is not truthful about it.

If it still has warranty and all the maintenance records then you can make an offer according to car’s condition with needing new tires, brakes etc.

Wait, I'm sorry when you say tracked, do you mean 1/4 mi or road course? TBH, not sure it even matters. Maintenance is key....worst case the suspension is well broken in, need new brakes and rear diff bolt should probably be replaced. That said...you should not pay a market premium. Just bc it was tracked doesn't mean it was driven any harder than the typical x3m owner pushes their car on the street.

he was doing laps around a popular track here in sydney, australia. Yea thats the thing ad well i would have to have a close look on how well it was maintained

Sold my 22 X3MC with intake and full exhaust. I think dealer is selling pretty cheap based on what I got for it.

I got an avg fuel economy 22.9 over 9600 miles. It did not have the snot kicked out of it. Mostly paasing people on rural 55 mph roads and driving ~7000 miles back and forth from SC to PA to see family. I sold it and get nothing when it sells so I have no reason to lie. About 7-10 launches in total. My 25 year old son drove it a few times and he had way more guts than I did carving corners with a 4600 lb SAV😀
