0-62mph in 0.956s - Academic Motorsports Club Zurich
September 2023: students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts have broken the previous world record for acceleration with their hand-built electric racing car "Mythen".
The driver Kate Maggetti accelerated with the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 0.956 seconds over a distance of 12.3 metres. During their 2016 world record project they were supported by BMW Group (see here). No information to what extent BMW Group was also involved this time around, but T-shirts and caps do prominently feature the BMW logo. https://ethz.ch/en/news-and-events/e...6-seconds.html ±140 kg vehicle + driver. Two Colin Chapman quotes: "Simplify, then add lightness." + "Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere."

To quote Carrol Shelby, "There is never enough horsepower......just not enough traction."

Not sure I'd call that a car. More like a very expensive toy she's holding onto.

Still twice as slow as top fuel dragsters. Those things are insanity on wheels.

I'm completely guessing here - but maybe the requirement is just on regular asphalt, since a prepped drag strip is a massive part of why top fuel cars, or really any drag racing car, can go so fast.

The article says this is a fan car (fan sucks the car to the ground) like the McMurtry Spéirling so surface traction wouldn't play as large of a factor. I don't think that's something most competitive racing leagues allow.
