I am an avowed BMW 5 series guy, the platform just fits my day to day professional (and car guy) needs to a T. But, as a dad to 4 young kids, my wife’s “encouragement” that I consider an additional kid-hauler of my own finally sunk in.
I had originally ordered a Manhattan green x7 m60i with ivory/atlas interior, but the CA forgot to submit the order with the all important (to me) matching ivory alcantera headliner. So, I decided to reject the 1st order and placed a second order with the correct specs. Decided to switch the color to tanzanite blue and kept the rest of the specs the same. It was worth the wait- took delivery early Sept. and just got full tints done (suntek evolve 30% on the sides/back, 15% driver/front passenger, 50% windshield, 70% sunroofs) and initial detail from my rock-solid mobile detail guy. I have about 500 miles on it already and I can say that I am genuinely blown away by all aspects of the X7. As the post title implies, I’ve never owned a BMW SUV before. I am astounded by the handling characteristics, the fit/finish/luxury/convenience of the interior (puts even my ‘21 m5c interior to shame) and just how overall smooth, quiet, quick, and athoratitive the X7 LCI is. No offense, but compared to the m5 board, it seems that the x7 board is majority complaints and horror stories regarding reliability etc… hopefully mine stays great beyond the honeymoon phase, but in the meantime, I’ll just leave my gushing and glowing initial x7 m60i impression with some recent photos! |

Nice combo, you don't mess around! M5C plus a loaded M60i. Damn. The X7 is a boat compared to sports sedans and sports cars, but put it in sport mode and it's amazing what it can do for it's size. There isn't another 3 row with its overall performance.

Really liking that color. The biggest draw for us is the amazing ride for the long road trips, gets decent fuel mileage for its size and the comfort seats with massage are the best

Looks awesome! Congrats! How's the 70% tint on the sunroof? Do you have skylounge, does it affect the brightness of the LEDs? I'm still debating if I should tint the sunroof and one of the detailers told me darker tints can 'trap' heat and could lead to sunroof shatters?

Gear moving is another priority. I like not having the coffin box on top of my car for skiing and hauling the gear and people in the X7 is a breeze as it all fits nicely. 4 people and gear is a no big deal. It is also a lot of fun for golf trips to Vegas. It is definitely a luxe hauler!

I suspect there are many more like you, myself included. Before we got ours, my wife's G30 540i was our road trip vehicle of choice, or my truck (Ram Diesel) if towing. The X7 is in a class by itself for long trips, as my recent Atlanta to Calgary and back trip proved to me. The more seat time you put in it, the more you will like it......
