F31/f30 brake upgrade

I wanna thank all the members who have contributed to the brake upgrade threads. I have a new to me 2014 f31 with all upgrades except the m sport package. After reading everything here, despite my 17” wheels I was confident that at least the 340’s would fit in the front. Got the msport brakes from a Floria reseller and rotors/hardware from bimmerworld. Removal of the stock calipers was AWFUL. In combination with being from Wisconsin, I think CARMAX had overtorqued the mounting bolts. But with Milwaukee tools 90 deg impact wrench, a lot of heat, and foot pounds of torque (literally), I finally got it. I have NOT yet recoded, and due to extensive experience in the brake department I did not have to do the Ista procedure to get a stiff pedal. (I’m fast on the lines). This all WAS a challenge, but doable for the experienced car nut/track junkie. I have NOT done the rears yet, and am uncertain if the rear 345’s will clear the 17’s, but the front improvement is honestly MASSIVE. Photo evidence below…

I just did the Sport conversion (340/330) on my 428ix from the base brakes as well, and it made a huge difference. Honestly wondered why that setup even existed.

I used the "hold the brake pedal" method to stop the lines from draining and it's worked well. But i was also quick with the change.

BMW brakes are ALWAYS better than similar cars. But I have sport fixed calipers on my other 3 BMW’s and they were all better than the 328i xdrive (including the X5). F31’s are rare, so I took the color and interior that I wanted, and compromised on LCI and brakes. I thought I might be able to upgrade without upgrading wheels. So far, so good.

Funny you mention the X5. Thought the same with my wife's 35i, so I had to upgrade her to the 50i brakes.

Did you have to take out the dust shield and cut or replace it to fit the larger rotors? I'm looking at buying the following rotors but not sure what else I need to go from base brakes to M Sport: 34116799469, 6799469, 6799470, 6799461, 6799462

I did not replace the dust shield on the front. I have not finished the back yet.

I can search but there are plenty of threads here. If YOU have to buy the new parts totally inclusive of new, that list looks small. I am uncertain if the stock brake lines fit the new brakes (mine came from a used car, so I had brake lines from the used car), and you need the pads unless you are getting them.

I'll try to help, but the threads here were the best resources I had.
