Hello all,

The recommended tires defined on the side of the drivers door is 225/55/r18 XL where XL stands for 102H. A load index of 102 (1875 lbs max load) and a speed rating H (210 km/h).

I have a set of winter tires with the following values 225/55/R18 98S. A load index of 98 is 1,653 lbs and a S speed rating is 180 km/h.

I don't have that much load on the car and I don't drive fast. Never reached the 180km/h.

Is it okay for me to install the 98S winter tires?

Sure, you can use 98S if there is no mandatory requirement in your location.

Just make sure your insurer is happy with the non standard tyre specifications. In an accident this could give them a reason not to pay out.
