Wow! STI Guys Don't Hate On 135i
Came across this thread in the STI forums. For the most part I'm very impressed by how reasoned their discussion is. Quite a contrast to the e90 forum thread from a while back.
I can see cross-shopping these two cars. It's nice to know the STI guys think the 1er will be a worthy adversary. |

Don't get me started. I will restrain myself.

Only a few at e90 forum (probably the kids) who show no respect to other bmw community...the retards I have an e90 and would love to trade in my car for a 135 euro delivery, but there are other things more important in life right now so maybe sometimes in the future |

I think there are more drivers who buy STI/EVO than there are drivers who buy 3 series. Some, if not many, of the 3 series owners are brand chasers and they buy BMW to exude their image. Which I have no problem with until they pose as drivers. Of course, they are mad when their trophy car is trumped by the little brother. Spoiled cry babies sum them up. (I am only referring to the infantile 3 series owner. No offense to others.)

That's because they have respect for small turbo cars and with the looks of the STI and Evo, they can't exactly throw stones about the looks fo the 1er.

How, exactly? No offense to anyone out there but I really could care less what some owners/fans of other cars think.

Wow. If you gotta ask then I dont think you will understand. But I'll give it a try. I care what they think because they drive VERY focused and VERY impressive performing cars. Yes the 135i will not perform as aggressive as their cars but the fact that they acknowledge that plus they know it will likely cost more is an amazing thing.

Im sorry but just because they drive a four-door sedan does not make them the grand indicator of all that is a performance car. I think it is funny that people here bemoan those who trust reviews ("How can you let one journalist decide things??") and then go about to praise some internet community simply because they like some car. I in no single, fathomable way see that as an "amazing thing".

Have you ever driven a 3 series? The bmw 3 series is one of best auto in its class. I agree some young 335 drivers are cocky but the STI/EVO is not even in the same class. I'm not saying that the STI/EVO is a bad car. you just don't compare those with a 3 series. They buy the car for its performance...etc just like you will buy a 135, unless you're chasing the brand too |

I believe the OP's point was that on far too many car forums you'll see posters bashing anything that doesn't match their model, or even bashing lower trims of that same model. In this case though, the car is impressive enough that there isn't a bunch of "hatin'" going on. In my personal experience... I lurked for quite a while on clubwrx.net and I generally found that community to be very open minded towards other brands of vehicles, so I guess I'm not overly surprised. |

the same can be seen on i-club.com. Very open minded people, and many are branching into other makes while still staying connected with the suby community. I am one of those people, and i stay in the suby forums to keep updated on what's going on and hopefully get back into another suby, sometime in the future.
