G99 M5 Touring has a chance, but I don't think the G61 is coming to the USA

As I understood it (though by no means thoroughly researched), the M3 Touring didn't come to the US since the series Touring cars were not put through homologation/testing necessary to sell in the US. The sales numbers were likely the reason the M car didn't have independent homologation/testing to bring it over even if we assume there'd be more interest for it than the series cars. I'm not sure why it would be any different for the 5 series/G99 M5 Touring. I would be encouraged that the M5 would be made available if the series cars make it over.

Generally I would agree, however the Audi RS6 Avant runs counter to your argument. This is perhaps one of the points in favor of the M5 touring being made available in the USA vs the M3 touring.

Sorry, but you are wrong.
The reason RS6 Avant is here is because of A6 Allroad. It is the Allroad that makes RS6 homologation possible/justifiable.
BMW would need the regular 5-series Touring here as well to justify bringing the M5 Touring.

You are correct, forgot about the A6 allroad.

Although the M5 Touring coming to the USA was front page news. No stake in the post, just remembered reading it awhile back.

Yes, that was the headline, so I do hope we get both although I am a fan of smaller cars, so 340iT would be most excellent, but a 540iT would be great too. Volvo, Merc, and Audi all do small and big wagons in NA, BMW does none at the moment. It needs to catch up.

Which they should do. Probably the only chance of my owning a G60 is for it to actually be a G61.

I think it’s more profitable to just sell the X vehicles that they already build here, so they don’t want the wagons eating into that market share.

I believe the E class wagon is only available by order, not something they’d build and order to stock on the lot (back when lots had cars on them). I feel BMW should do the same. Just have the option available to order the wagon if that’s what the customer really wants. I’d love to have a 540 touring as a daily driver. Wish we’d had an M550 touring in the G30/31 series.

Come on BMW !!! We want neue classe on the EV front!!! But obviously if the price is right when i mean the price is right i mean for what a BMW should cost, then i think this will be a big seller especially in the EU on the corporate side leasing those cars.

Saw the VW ID7 launched with a top spec price of 82 000€ 373 miles and a consumption of 14,7 kw / per 100 km that is rather good. The ID7 is a sedan but will probably come as an touring version and will be in direct competition on the corporate side with the i5 touring,

So if BMW wants to sell the M5 touring and regular touring, they only have to crash test one of the two?

I’m in shock.
It looks like a 5 series but in Touring form!!

Looking forward to the wing mirror reveal next week.

Fingers crossed but things can change. The m560e was supposedly in development too for the US and now not in the pipeline.

According to this source we will not see touring on this side of the pond.
https://www.carscoops.com/2023/10/bm...isses-out/amp/

Bmw seems to either count on high M5 touring sales if it brings it here or markup combined with sales numbers that will make it justifiable to get touring only in M5 trim homologated for our market. I am however starting to doubt that M5 touring will be coming to US. Has it ever been confirmed?

The M5 touring teaser was posted on BMWUSA IG page in June 26th. Go check it out. It has also been confirmed by reliable sources on this forum that it will be coming to the US. Cheers

Thank you. BTW, I am not disputing that at all.
I'm just saying that another variant (regular 5 Touring or i5 Touring) will very likely come along with it or before it.
