2024 xdrive40i check engine light
Came on over the weekend, can't find any detail about what's causing it. No alerts or notifications tied to it, car has about 5500 miles on it. Easy way to diagnose the issue without an OBD adapter?

Taking it in next week as it doesn't appear to be an urgent issue. Good times |

Light came back on same night, took it to another dealer in town and the light was again gone by the time I took it in, they said theres probably a software issue, updated me to 8.5 and light never came back about 3 weeks ago. |

First thing to check if your radiator blinds are open or closed? If they’re open with the engine off and fan is not running that means they’re not closing correctly.
If they’re closed then they are not opening which is a bigger issue since the radiator isn’t getting air and could cause the car to overheat. Being stuck open means you lose some aerodynamics which will cause your mpg to decrease, at least on the highway so not a big deal. This happened on my G12 and was because some dirt got in there and caused it to be stuck open. Either way it shouldn’t happen, and should be a simple fix under warranty. |
