attn jb4/tuned owners of the g87
I have some questions for those who have done a jb4 on the G87 m2.
I am debating about doing a fetmo unlock and tune but I am only doing a downpipe and intake. Not messing around with e85 or flex fuel kits. I know there's a lot on the forums on the jb4 with these engines but specifically with our detuned s58 cars compared to the g80s I didn't see much. Does the jb4 on the g87 make the same power as the G80 with a jb4 How does it effect the lower end torque. The dyno sheets for the g80s are tuned differently than our g87s and was wondering how the jb4 effects this. For those who have tuned their cars without doing a e85 or flex fuel how much different was it from the jb4 to the tune. Does it get that much more power. Not talking about comparing price or warranty stuff Ive read everyone's opinions about that already. I want to know how much better does it run and does it change the torque curve to be like the m3/m4. Hope that makes sense. |

A femto unlock, stage 2 tune, downpipes, exhaust, heat exchanger, oil cooler, trans cooler, intake/drop in filter and colder plugs on 93 octane will get you 700-750whp/600-650wtq depending on who does the tune. No, its not cheap and not for everyone.
JB4 cannot touch this. |

Peak hp is awesome with 700 but I'm looking to beef up the mid range mainly from 3 k and up as the stock top end is decent. Does the jb4 vs tune go about this differently.

Correct, trans cooler is for auto. Keeping everything as cool as possible is one of the keys. I don't recommend meth injection (like a snow, etc)...want to run methanol, go with an E85 setup. You can upgrade the clutch and pressure plate for the manual but the manual honestly is the limiting factor for the power. It cannot handle the same amount of power (hp/tq) as the auto can. |

If the goal is to make the most power, bootmod3 is better than the Jb4.
But if you have a daily driver and are looking for a big jump in power at a lower cost, the JB4 is the better value. It makes power with a lot less hassle since you do not need to send your DME to Finland, and it costs way less.

Makes sense thank you. I was looking more for the way the power is delivered vs the total power. I believe the tune would make the power curve different than a jb4 correct me if I'm wrong. If that is true then I will do a tune just without the ethanol and flex fuel kit.
A tune with 93 octane vs a jb4 with 93 octaine. No flex fuel or ethanol just down pipe and intakes. Tune would be better or not worth it with just those upgrades. Will consider adding the oil cooler if it makes difference. That's what I'm chasing |

On my G82 rear-wheel drive, I did not want max power because traction was an issue, so I went with the JB4. It's a lot faster than stock. I just got an X-drive, and I want to target a lot more target and later get an upgraded turbo, I'm getting bootmod3 on this car.

This is not for the S58, but I had a JB4 in my B58 supra. When I dynod it with a custom map, AA catted DP, and intake I was up 60lbft of torque - from 412 to 472. I don't have reliable HP numbers because I was a dummy and did 3 stock (JB4 disabled) pulls and then 3 map6 (custom map) pulls. The shop didn't let it cool down enough between runs and I suspect it pulled timing at top end so my HP didn't change. (I also forgot to log the runs). My guess and based on what I saw from others it should be around 420hp.
So for about $1000 total (jb4 + custom map) I was able to go from 377HP/412tq to 420HP/472Tq. As everyone else said - JB4 < a proper unlock and tune but when I did this Femto wasn't available (or it was like a lot more challenging to send it as they were in russia, I forget)

I had a mission performance unlocked tune on my b58 and it was much more than that or at least it felt like it. Felt like that curve for the torque and HP was much different than the stock map which made it better to drive. That's why I'm asking more about the curve of the graph changes from a jb4 to a full tune rather than just more power. But I got my answer from everyone here.

I really think it was russia in the beginning because one of the guys on the supra forums started a website: https://willmy062020plusecugotorussia.com/
either way...yes they relocated to Finland
