Highway Assist
Does anyone know if there are plans to expand the Highway Assist technology to other roads in the future with over the air updates?
The tech works great, but I am disappointed to see that it don't work off interstates. I have a lot of drives on non-interstate type highways and only have the regular assist capability. |

The system uses a special map database, HD map, so as long as the road is in this map the system should work. They should be continually updating this however I’m not sure if it gets updated OTA or when you do a full map update. Here’s what I currently have.

I have the Pro package on the G30 (not highway assist) and it works fantastic on all roads. You only have 20-30 seconds hands-free before the car puts on the brakes. Cetners the lines perfectly unlike pre-lCI models. If you order Pro you will be happy. HWY assist only allows you to bo hands-free longer. Does anyone on this thread have Highway assist now? Does it work better than the normal pro package or is it a pain since if eyes are not straight ahead it might shut off? Or does it give you a warning? I don't like the idea of Highway assist changing lanes due to looking over a shoulder or turning the head. My pro package will change lanes if clear by 1 tap of the stalk. I like that better.

Ok. Stupid question. I’ve never had DAP. How do you activate it and is it only for highway driving?

Driver assistance professional is a sweet option. You engage by hitting 1 button on the wheel and it keeps the lane centered and the distance to the car in front of you. Works much better than PRE LCI. Disengages after 20-30 seconds if you don't have hands touching or squeezing the wheel as it alerts you.

Here is a good question. IF you have Highway Assist but are on a road not listed in the database, will the system work as well as Normal DAP? DAP works very well on all roads when activated. If DAP is not activated there is basic lane keep that ping pong. There are 2 systems on most cars (DAP and if not activated normal lane keep like the PRE LCI version). If you don't have Highway Assist active on nonhighways will the good DAP still work or are we back to the older assistance pro which was not great.

Thank You. So, the next question is if Highway Assist is available how picky is the warning on eyes looking dead straight or even turning to look at mirrors, etc. Is it forgiving or an issue with overzealous chimes? Can you go hands-free indefinitely as long as you are looking forward?

I've had my m60 for one week - love it - but I cannot get either Lane Change Assistant or Assisted Driving Mode Plus (extended hands-free mode) to activate even on interstates. I can only get basic Assisted Driving Mode. I've read through the manual, checked the settings (they don't even appear to be listed at all in my settings). I have all the sensors needed. Any tips? Maybe I need a software update?

Make sure when you turn on cruise control to select the assist mode vs just the distance control. Left side of the steering wheel, lower button, 2 clicks.
Also somewhere in settings you can enable more detailed messages which tell you the reason behind assist disconnects. ex. Max speed exceeded or other messages. By default the setting is to give short notices. |

I discovered today that in true low-speed stop/go traffic, you don't have to put your hands on the wheel at all - as long as you stay below 20 or 25 mph (I wasn't quite sure which it was) you don't ever get the yellow hands-on-wheel warning. In rush hour stop/go traffic, this is a great feature. |

Is anyone having issues with sunglasses and eye detection for Highway Assist? When I am wearing my sunglasses, I am getting and eye detection warning saying it won't work.
Wondering if its my glasses specifically or a common problem. |

I have DAP on my 24 760, it is able to detect my sunglasses. Others I’ve spoke to also have no issues with the glasses but you’re not the first to have this issue. Must be your glasses
