I went and got a 100 dollar intake...

So I’ve been trying to get an mst or dinan to korea but always backordered and the import tax made it too expensive.

Then one day i saw one on aliexpress by jtld, a chinese company. A list of concerns but after talking to customer service thought id give it a shot. It is only 120 usd after taxes.

1.5 week shipping, arrived last night and installed it right away. Lmk what you think. Ill try to post some sounds soon. It is definitely louder and more “airy” sound.

I got too excited and forgot to take a pix before adding the cover. But as i heard the same about mst, the fitment and angle was a pain…

Btw, if you see the last photo, i found some… dark residue? Oil? Looking thing in my stock turbo inlet (which i didnt change out). Is this somewhat normal? Car has only 7000 km.

A little bit of oil is perfectly normal.

Intake looks identical to the mst. Good buy.

Yeah I saw this on aliexpress a while back and couldn't believe how much it looked like mst but 250 cheaper. Its kinda why I took MST off the list. Wasn't able to find an eventuri clone on ali so figured that would be a better bet.

Congrats, but I would have gone with the MAD intake instead. You get US support, a lifetime warranty, next-day shipping, and excellent quality

Yeh i tried to consider many different options including injen too, but the shipping and import taxes always made it too costly to bring to Korea (shipping was usually another 100-150, plus another 150 for taxes).

I tried to pick one up during a business trip to Melbourne but they were all out of stock.

Btw, an update, the cover screws stripped already… And the sound is quite fluttery… im not sure if it sounds “nice”

Have you watched many of the intake videos, imo they all sound kinda funny. As for the cover that may be why MST has the plexiglass cover. I think they sell it separately.

Those of you with the MST - Does this intake look mostly identical to the MST , or just similar ?

Very close in appearance, and an intake is such a simple device, as long as it fits nicely and the filter is decent quality, I don’t see any risk going cheap. Maybe buy a K&N filter or something if you go this route.

I thought the same thing. Maybe the filters are different. But probably not, unless they are an actual name brand quality filter.

Yep, could buy a hundred dollar intake , and spend another $60 or $80 for a high quality cone filter

The filter felt pretty decent quality. It even has that metal lining to signify the bottom lol. But i do want to change it out before it comes time to clean it for a k&n. It will help me feel “safer” about my 100 dollar choice, haha

But it’s very snug in there cuz of the heatshield… anybody try it? And know which size might work?

They make almost an infinite number of filter sizes just measure would bet they make one exactly the same size.

Do you have a link for the MAD intake that is compatible with the G42? I’ve been seeing a couple online and I’m not sure which one fits my 2024 M240i. Fairly new to the car scene, thanks in advance! 😊
