Shopping tools and Vin decoders...

I'm shopping for a pre-owned X7 preferably a 2020 M50 and I'd like to know what tools or techniques are used to discern a vehicles previous repair/maintenance history. Carfax is often vague with the generic "Vehicle Serviced" category which could mean anything from an oil change to a transfer case replacement. Can I give BMW a vin and find the real service history? I'm not sure that will include every service or issue every time. I'd also like to know what vin decoder is most popular now, seems that Bimer.work was having issues last time I tried.

It's $10 per vin, but I use https://monroneylabels.com/ to get the factory window sticker when comparing vehicles.

For real service history, you'd have to have an advisor at a dealership do you a favor.

Hi, we can help with a full service history if the car was serviced by the main dealer and not by a third party. Repair and warranty history is included too.

I found if you search the vIN on KBB when searching for “my cars value” -> enter a random mileage and zip code and then scroll down to see included packages. It is spot on based on the 12 or so variations I tested today. Doesn’t work for every car but all the X7 I tested worked.
