first service

My X7 2023 LCI is due for service in Dec. I called one of the BMW service center and got $350.00 estimate for first service including oil change!

I was thinking service will be free?

Maintenance for the first 3 years is included with the car. I just did mine last month and paid $0.

you said "including" what else are adding to the service?
should be free.
unless they are tacking on unnecessary things

it should be $0 for the first 3 years. sounds like the dealer is trying to fleece you. you really need to ask what they are adding on for 350 bucks. probably blinker fluid change, balancing your muffler bearings, etc.

Possibly report this dealer to BMW North America.

Get clarification from the dealer…then determine if you’re being charged for something that is outside the free stuff.

It’s not even clear in this thread what “service” is due. When I pull up the CBS (condition based services) in iDrive…none of them are titled “first service”. But I do have specific services that are listed (ie oil, vehicle check, brake fluid, brake pads, etc).

When you asked about the service, did they in turn ask for your VIN so they could pull up your car’s info? If not, perhaps they gave you a generic answer.

Again, I would call back and get clarification as to why there’s a charge for work that you assumed was free until the vehicle is out of warranty.

It should be free for first 3 years, otherwise that shady dealer needs to be reported. The car should require nothing for the first service, not even wearables like brakes. If you didn't abuse the car and it needs new brake pads in first service BMW needs to pay for that and own you an explanation.

I had this issue as well. They showed me the new coverage and it’s minimal. So some stuff was charged. I did get some “performance tune” where they said they would adjust engine timing etc. I’m pretty sure it’s bullshit but figured I’d give it a try give it’s the first tune up since delivery. I did notice a difference, much perkier, but then again I probably got swindled. I’ll have to find the receipt. Will try a different dealer next year.
