Wireless Charging can now be disabled + sharing what "Deep Sleep" Mode is! :)

Hello BMW fam-bam! I hope y'all are doing good and Happy Thanksgiving!

There has been a lot of talk (more like complaints) about the Wireless Charging feature and new cell phones - most notably the new iPhone! Well this feature can now be disabled and I'll provide receipts down below! In addition, I recently discovered what "Deep Sleep" Mode is and I'll share it with you all down below! I apologize if any of this has been talked about in previous threads, but I figured it couldn't hurt to mention any of this again!

DISCLAIMERS/NOTES:
- All of the information/content that is provided in this post is based off of BMW of North American (NA) models!
- Everything in this post (incl. Pictures) all came from a 2024 BMW X1 - (M35i) and Wireless Charging, per the most recent pricing guide, is STANDARD on all of the X1 - (M35i) models!
- Wireless Charging on X1 - (xDrive 28i) models remains optional, although it will be included in the following Packages: Convenience, Technology, Premium, and/or M - Sport (M - Sport requires the Convenience Package at the very least)
- At this time, I am not sure if MY23 X1's have any these features mentioned and/or if it'll be available via updates.

Disabling Wireless Charging
* As mentioned above, you can now disable Wireless Charging via iDrive! Under the "Wireless Charging Tray" option that can be found under the "System Settings" menu is where you can find the option to disable it. Below are two pictures - one has wireless charging enabled and the other disabled
NOTE: Resetting the iDrive to factory settings and (possibly) updating the system may result in the Wireless Charging feature being enabled and I say this because the feature was on by default once I got inside the car.

Deep Sleep Mode
* "Deep Sleep" mode, to put it simply, looks like it will protect your X1's battery/electronics if your X1 will not be driven for some time
(e.g., those going on vacation, maybe your X1 is at your weekend/vacation house, etc.)
* You can choose to have your Anti - Theft Alarm System on or off while in Deep Sleep mode, with the latter extending the max amount of time your X1 can be stationary.
* I am not sure if weather conditions (incl. Temperature) will have a significant impact on an X1 in Deep Sleep mode or not and so I would factor this in or ask one of your service advisors/technicians.
* Here is a link to an X1 thread that users talk about Deep Sleep mode, and I didn't realize there was a thread about this until I was done writing this lol

That said, I hope this post/thread can help/benefit someone! And for those who ordered an X1 - (M35i) or are thinking of purchasing one? I drove one for the first time a few days ago and I'll give you my input:
1. That thing PULLS!!!!!!!!!!
2. I had a BIG ol SMILE on my face when I returned to the dealer!
3. Once Sport Plus was enabled (via digging through the individual options under the Sport mode/option), I was like "Oh My!!!! BMW wasn't playing with this one" lol

Anyways, stay safe BMW Fam- Bam and happy holidays!

Best,
Cam

ok, now that's strange to know...

The M35i you drove show deep sleep of up to 20 weeks (with alarm on) or up to 24 weeks (with alarm not on) while mine on the 28i said up to 12 weeks or up to 15 weeks...

wonder what is the variable that allows a more extended length of battery power ?

Hellooo! You bring up a good point! I'll ask one of the service techs when I go back to work on Friday! I wonder if it had something to do with it being driven recently (i.e., the amount of time it can do a "Deep Sleep" is based on the current status of the vehicle) or if it is just a result of some of the changes from a 28i -> M35i? It could also be some of the hardware changes - keep in mind that the 2024 28i and M35i both will come with iDrive 9
NOTE: I am using BMWUSA's Build Your Own as a reference that the 28i will have iDrive 9

Lastly, according to the latest pricing guide, both X1's for early - 2024 models that either have the Premium or Technology Package, will be eligible to receive Augmented Reality (AR) as a software update. I mention these two packages specifically, as these two packages are the only ones that have "Live Cockpit Pro (incl. HUD and AR)" option - 6U3 and so I would expect that X1's with one of those packages would be eligible. That said, I assume that maybe all of this requires a few changes to the vehicles battery and electronic systems?

I'll get back to you soon and I've attached a few screenshots down below for additional referencing!
