I spent the first few weeks of ownership pushing every button and exploring all the iDrive options/settings. Big change from our pair of 2019 F22. So, in the last few days I’ve been playing with the voice assistant and quite impressed with its’ responses to requests. Certainly it’s not perfect, however a pleasant surprise IMO. Occasionally the command must be re-worded but overall I find myself using the manual controls less each day. Comments?

IDrive 7 introduced huge advancements over 6 to the voice command system. You just say in plain words what you want to do.
As long as you are logged in to your driver profile, the BMW assistant searches the internet to interpret what you actually want. That's why you can say "I want tacos" and it searches for Mexican restaurants. You can also say things like "my feet are cold" and it will change the blend door to send more heat to your feet. Overall it's pretty impressive. Developing this system in iDrive 7 made it so they could remove a ton of buttons for iDrive 8. |

I use it mostly for the gimmick factor: telling the car to lower the passenger window to amuse the passenger, and then telling it to raise the window to show the passenger how it can’t do it lol
Haven’t found anything I find myself repeating to it. Or using the screen anyway. To me it could all go away lol wish it was optional and cheaper without. Anything useful you guys found I can try? Though come to think of it I remember a thread about this existing where I posted all the possible commands (or their official command prompts), and don’t recall anything that could be used daily… |
