Unfortunately, looks like quite a few of us are encountering this. Nothing I’ve found that helps. Someone posted in this thread that the dealer even replaced their head unit…

My CarPlay sometimes just goes blank too lol I even tried to delete and repair the phone and the car almost wouldn’t let me for an hour. Indeed very frustrating. Hopefully they figure it out soon.

Got the same issue with carplay, my music while playing goes fade in, fade out for no reason. Stopped using carplay for now, just focus more on enjoying my drive

Same problems here. Dealer has had the car for 32 days and counting since I bought it at the end of December. They replaced the “RAM Module” most recently, doubt it will do anything. This appears to be a software problem and I don’t think they have a fix. I already have a case open with corporate and I am running out of patience.

As others have pointed out, the Spotify app from the ID9 store plays flawlessly, while Spotify played through CarPlay gets interrupted every few minutes.

Same issue. Nothing has fixed unfortunately. Bluetooth no CarPlay does seem to work. Updated to latest iOS with no luck.

Android Auto suffers from the same problem but perhaps not as bad as indicated with Apple Carplay.
I read somewhere that using a wired connection solved this problem as its not unique to BMW apparently. Can't find where that was now but I am going to give that a try while I wait for ID9 to be 'fixed'. |

Having the same issues with iDrive 9 but I have found potential setting in the iPhone settings that seems to “improve” the connection.
Would love someone else to test and report back. Here’s the process: 1.Remove current phone from car entirely 2.Reset WiFi password 3. Pair phone again, making sure to do as many commands on the iDrive screen as possible including selecting “use with CarPlay”. (Not sure about this but this was a hunch from a service guy) 4. The big one: In your iPhone WiFi settings, find the WiFi network for your car, select the info button, scroll down and toggle off “Limit IP address tracking”. That’s it. For some reason after toggling that setting off I’ve been able to use the phone without audio cutting out and without CarPlay completely crashing on phone calls…. Before I toggled this off my CarPlay would crash almost immediately after making a phone call. I heard maybe one audio cut out in 45 minutes and prior it was much more frequent. Would love to have someone else test and see if it improves. iPhone 12 Pro 17.3.1 IDrive 9 07.2023.72 2024 x1 m35 |

Is it registering because it got plugged in, or because it auto connects wirelessly to CarPlay? I personally haven't tried wired CarPlay, I just remember reading a post from a while back that CarPlay was wireless only on the X1. If it can be used with a USB cable to connect, great for others, mine works 99% perfect wirelessly.

I don't use the wireless charger at all, I have a phone mount from ProClipUSA so it's right below the infotainment system and charges with MagSafe. Not as clean as just throwing the phone in the cradle, but way more convenient and the charging works better.

My M35i has been at service for over 2 weeks now, that makes it about 31 days total for the same or other issues.
My letter to BMW corporate for their final repair attempt within 10 days of receipt goes out tomorrow. |
