I just bought an accessory to check battery voltage using the 12 volt socket and it didn’t work. I tried the one in the trunk and it worked. So I’m guessing my front console 12 volt socket fuse is blown?

I’m sure we all use the usb c but having a broken 12 volt socket is just not fun.
Anybody else have problems with 12 volt socket? Is this a common issue?

Don’t really want to do a service repair unless I have to. Any advice?

my 12-volt socket has worked flawless for over 6 months. my dash cam is plugged into it all the time.

I don't remember where the fuse is, but someone here posted pictures of the fuses a while back... (edit: under the glovebox)

if it's not the fuse, maybe it's the socket or its connector?(but I kind of doubt it) just in case, removing the socket is actually quite easy. I made a post about it several months ago. (pic #4 shows the back of the 12-volt socket) Take a voltmeter and see if there's 12-volt current on that connector.

Enter your VIN at https://fusecard.bmw.com/ to help identify the fuse and location.

It would be surprising if the 2 sockets each have their own fuses.

especially for smokers.

I don't smoke, but I got the BMW cigarette lighter for emergencies.

obviously it probably won't work if the front 12v socket is not working.

So check the fuse, and if that's not it, if you want to minimize your trips to the dealer, leave it until our 1st (free) oil change service, request a loaner, and tell them the power outlet isn't working, and they'll fix it under warranty.
