LCI Horsepower Gain Available For Non-LCI?
Thought I would ask all you experts the question.
Is there an paid option/process that BMW will offer to bring the current M4 up to the same HP gain? I understand from some of the threads that it will be a higher RPM and maybe different map? Excuse my newbiness with the question Thanks in advance! |

Most likely not as this has never really been something BMW has offered in the first place. From an aftermarket perspective I’m sure one of the tuning platforms will offer a map of the LCI cars after some time. Similar to the CS and GTS offerings of the F80 platform.

Keep in mind this could potentially just be BMW raising (on paper) the hp up to match what the cars are actually making. I believe the 2025 G87 M2 is getting a hp bump up to 473 which matches the base non comp G8X, but a lot of people are saying it basically makes that kinda power (or more) already and is more a marketing tool to make people think big changes were made.
And that stuff works too. I distinctly remember feeling like i won out when i bought my 2021 A91 Supra with 389 hp vs the 335 that the 1st generation came out with. |

Highly recommend everyone read the below
https://www.gminsidenews.com/threads...sepower.90543/ A lot of misinformation goes around with people claiming the cars are underrated. They are not underrated. If BMW says they are increasing the horsepower, they are increasing the horsepower. |

If a company doesn’t use the SAE standard, they still have to use a fully kitted engine (accessory drive, production exhaust, intake, etc) to measure “net power.” Pre 1970something, most US engines measured Gross power which was basically the engine without any intake/exhaust restrictions and a standalone cooling/ignition setup. So power was vastly overstated compared to what was realized in the car. So most likely the LCI will be a real hp increase, likely 2psi bump is my guess. Just enough to knock 0.1 off the qtr mile so it can be advertised as faster
