is rainwater supposed to bead like this on my hood after ceramic coating?
is rainwater supposed to bead like this on my hood after ceramic coating? it was a heavy rain. I just kind of assumed that the rainwater or the beads would mostly roll off. but it seems no different than regular wax/polish. or did I apply the ceramic coating wrong?
thanks! |

Thanks! I thought about having a "professional" do it... but after watching several YouTube videos and staying at a Holiday Inn Express, I thought to myself "what's the worst that can happen?".... so I did it myself. But since it was my first time, I really wasn't sure how it was supposed to come out.

That's normal. Some coatings have a lower sliding angle than others and self-evacuate better, but yes it's just going to behave like a durable wax. Actually, it's worse in one way because waxes are very good at preventing water spotting, while ceramic coatings are prone to water spots. Rain generally will not spot on you, but groundwater or road spray.

I used Avalon king on my 2 black cars, but the 3 series almost never sees rain and only comes out on sunny days. |

I used to live near a full service car detailer. They offered an optional $5 rain insurance. I bought it once in a while. Over the years, I came out on top because it always seemed to rain several days after I got the car detailed. (and even if it didn't rain, I just treated the $5 as a tip for them for doing a good job!)
