Magsafe cases and charging

Hi all, weird question...

I recently got a new phone (S24 Ultra) and decided to try out a case that has magsafe built in, mainly for using in my campervan on a charger. This works fine, as does my existing Samsung wireless charger at home but...

In the car, not so much. Starts charging, then stops, then starts etc. I tried my work iphone which has magsafe built in and this charges fine.

Does anyone use a magsafe case in their car?

Cheers.

Why would you be trying to use a MagSafe case with a Samsung handset?

MagSafe technology is magnetic technology from Apple, built natively into iPhone models. MagSafe-compatible accessories and MagSafe-enabled technology allows users to charge wirelessly, attach wallet cases, and more to their iPhone

Maybe that's the reason it works with your iPhone, and not with your S24

I recharged my S23 in a genuine Samsung Smart View Wallet case using the built in wireless charger. While it was a little slow compared to normal charging speed it did work OK but the phone got hot which it doesn't do when charged by USB cable which I will be using in the future.

Because if you have devices of both types and accessories for one like the OP does, you may want to keep things simple and consistent. Cleary the magsafe case works on his Sammy phone normally, it just doesn't seem to work well with the car charger.

You would only use a MagSafe case if you have a MagSafe wireless charger. Like the charger on this forum. But maybe it’s not working properly as the the wireless charging element isn’t well aligned to the charger or the ring is getting in the way.

The only purpose of the magsafe case is to provide the necessary magnet mating material. There's no extra function. Seems like a case of poor alignment or the magsafe attach points are in just not quite the exact right place.

Yeah, basically this. I wanted to try magsafe for use in my campervan as it has nowhere to safely store the phone while charging and driving so one case for all scenarios.

Every wireless charger I have (collected a few over the years) works perfectly with the magsafe case, from official Samsung ones to no name ones from Amazon, just not the charger in the car.

My solution is a standard case for day to day use and will leave the magsafe one in the van for when we go away
