Driver of the 335i was speeding & subsequently pulled over by police. During the traffic stop, the car “backfired” (I presume it was a loud burble) which startled the officers causing them to unload 10+ rounds into the car. Miraculously the driver was hit only once in the hand. No firearm was found on the driver & he wasn’t arrested.

SOMEWHERE along the line, the police got the idea that they have the most dangerous job in the world. They don't. Even in the USA, they're not even on the top ten list.

THE only shooting that's ever happened in my neighborhood was the cops shooting a guy in his own house, unarmed. His crime? Leaving the front door open at 2'oclock AM.

I hate the loud tunes too. I hate worse, that statistically, a traffic stop is more dangerous for the driver than the police. They kill more people at traffic stops than police are killed per year. When we get to defending police for shooting an unarmed man in the back while he is running away, we've crossed a line from which there is no return.

I mean sure it will for officer safety....but what if there is a traffic stop go by and i let off my gas pedal and they empty a clip into another car pulled over.

How about back up and take cover and see what and where that came from?

Oh wait, I know, every gunshot sound should be answered with a hail of gunfire from the cops directed at whatever direction they THINK it came from.

If the answer everybody has to "what was that" is pointing a gun in that general direction and firing away, we are in serious serious trouble.

These backfire sounds are so loud they startle the crap out of you. You cannot predict how you'd react to these sounds unexpectedly. I was driving my untuned m340i in the canyon and I crapped in my pants how loud the sound was sitting in my car driving (windows down). I imagine a loud exhaust with extra oomph backfire from the outside is going to be at magnitudes scarier.

Que te mejores pronto to my Puerto Rican friend, also that's pretty crazy to shoot the car like that, I get the cop was jazzed up because he was going 100 mph in a construction zone but he pulled over when he probably could have ran not sure what the chase laws are in Columbus. Hate to be driving by and catch a stray over a burble tune. One would assume if you hear no bullet snap or an impact near you even if he was shooting it was nowhere near you but who knows, shoot first ask questions later I guess.

The gunshot tunes are so freaking annoying and scare the fuck out of me on the highway. Like I have to sit there and cringe and wait for you to let off the throttle.

Maybe you deserve to be shot, not for brandishing a weapon, but having such a poor taste in car mods

Agreed man, but there are many things that officers can "get away" with at the end of the day in guise of officer safety. they can literally do anything and say, "i thought I was in danger so i did xyz" we obviously have to give away some liberties to have police...again thats why the sides matter.

I totally agree with you 100%, but this is how it is.
