Any recommendation for an affordable OBD II scanner for the U11?
Complete noob asking for guidance after reading plenty of reviews on Amazon.
Is it important to have a specific model of scanner? With some specific capabilities? Some reviewers mention the ability to get "sub-codes", for example... Last edited by PatL; 02-27-2024 at 01:13 PM.. |

My X1 is at the dealer to check a transmission error but will try to hook up the Foxwell scanner when I get the car back to see verify it's compatible.

I went with the OBDLink CX, recommended that I purchased on Amazon. It was recommended by various sources online.
Example here https://www.obdadvisor.com/carly-vs-...vs-bimmerlink/ The free app works with BMWs. |

I bought a couple for older vehicles on Amazon when I needed to reset the battery charging schedule. They worked fine
One thing is recommended is buying a cheap burner phone and not install the app on your actual device. The apps need all kinds of ridiculous permissions for no reason |

They are all different and probably change periodically. I'd check the permissions associated. Sounds like you installed it already. Hopefully you can keep location off. Not the end of the world if you can't. I remember it wanting contacts, camera, mic and others. Very intrusive. Wouldn't work without so I loaded it onto an old phone I had sitting around
