Amido seat base sag

After 400 miles of ownership, noticing a problem with the front seats.

When sitting, the seat base depresses down more than expected and the edge seams (indicated by the highlighted areas in the image) dig into me. I can only describe it as sitting with a pencil pressing at the sides of ones thighs and its uncomfortable after an hour or more.

Anyone had problems with the foam sagging after a couple of years of use (15K miles and two years with previous owner) ? Anything known as a warranty issue or is this normal, particularly for the leather stretching over time?

Thanks

Sorry to hear/see that. Yes, leather can often have issues over time. Nevertheless, I would point it out to your dealer. While leather seats are really good in many ways they can have stretch, sag and wrinkle issues

Good luck on getting your dealer to step up and tighten/fix your seat issue.

It was sagging for me after 3 months/10k miles and went to the dealer because apparently it’s the leather separating from the glue to the foam underneath, or whatever. They reflected.

Same at 6 months/20k. Rejected.

Every service visit, rejected. Now at 18 months/49k miles I’m about to give up and just deal with it. iX seats are just garbage.

My standard vegan leather doesn't show any such issue.

Amido here and 13K miles, no such problem.

Looking at AIR for cushion replacement, the process looks considerable:
  • A new cushion around £220
  • Seat occupancy mat
  • Two hours of labour
So wouldn't be surprised if a seat cushion replacement from the main dealer is well north of £450 and no guarantee that it'll solve it completely.

Wonder if any form of foam wedge beneath at the rear of the seat base may help (But doesn't look particularly accessible without cushion removal). Otherwise, its a £20 amazon seat pad...

My driver seat after 10k miles and 14 months. It’s noticeable compared to the front passenger seat.

Unacceptable. I have a Jeep rubicon with 40,000 miles. The leather seats in that thing have virtually no puckering…and Jeep is anything but a quality car builder.

I suspect the BMW won’t replace is this seat is because it is the result of an unresolved design flaw that will require ongoing replacements.

The leather option costs a significant amount of money and it should be PERFECT.
