Wow!
First the weight difference. Gotta be 20-25lbs.
Second sounds great.
Third I think this is what the car needed. I have a JB4 and this mid pipe really woke it up. Seat of the pants meter is like 30-40hp. Responsive and torquey too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnArbN1Q4ag

Fitment was spot on. Pretty easy to install. Only gripe and it seems to be pretty common with some of the more cost effective solutions is no instructions, parts list or links to pdfs or videos.

I heard about cutting at the dimples. Well there is one spot with one dimple and one with two. Cut first at the one since it was less pipe removed. Then mocked it up and realized it needed to be cut at the two dimples, about 2 inches. That was perfect.

Looks like you went with the non-resonated version, correct?

Correct. Still pretty quiet. Valves closed windows up it isn’t much difference. In the throttle you notice it.
Open valves a bit more noise at cruise. No drone. More burble on lift. WOT roars a bit now.

Curious on what tool you chose to cut the OEM pipes, sawzall or chain type cutter. Did you end up dropping the entire exhaust?

I installed one of these last week and used a sawzall. Cut the oem exhaust and dropped the middle section. Left the muffler box on the car.

I used a pneumatic cutoff tool with a metal cutting disc. Nothing fancy. Considered a sawzall but I felt like this was a cleaner cut.

You probably can't use a chain cutter with stainless pipe.

I dropped the whole exhaust. It takes like 10-15 min to drop. You need two people though cuz it's pretty heavy.

EngineerTheVoid & GenXG87 - How low does the main pipe hang coming off the downpipes prior to the bracket on your install?

Seems lower than I expected on my install.

How's the JB4 been on the G87? What settings have you been running? Lowkey interested in getting one for my car sometime in the future

IMO it depends on use case. Daily use on the street it's awesome. I don't drag race this car, but for that I imagine it is great too.

However, on a road course it's not ideal. The main issue is that it will kick-in at a certain throttle %. This can cause some issues since throttle modulation needs to be consistent. So I set it to map 0 (stock) on a road course.

On the street I run map 2 on 93 and the car is a blast.

I believe 2nd. I cut at the front dimple first and I had to cut again.

Does your muffler stick out further after the mid pipe install? Should I readjust? How?

Is it all the way in the clamps? Does not stick out and my hangars are vertical.

May need to be cut more. Or another thing is the y could be upside. Not sure if that is possible but when I was assembling I did have to double check because it looked like it could.

Midpipes do not trigger the check engine light, so if your state only does an OBD check, it won't set any flags.
