Wrapping non CF roof with CF?
So I originally didn't want to get the CF roof because I thought the contrast would look odd. I ended up catching a good deal on a new G87 M2 and bought it. It didn't have the CF roof, and has the plane roof without sunroof. Now, I am realizing how cool the CF roof looks and is. I got the blue colour and still looks good, but now I am wondering if I should wrap the roof with CF. I know it will be a bit ricey, but I feel like the weight difference from non sunroof roof to CF is not much, and more so asthetics.
What are your thoughts on this? Leave it alone or wrap? Last edited by jakeup58874; 03-03-2024 at 10:02 PM.. Reason: G87 M2 |

I had my roof wrapped in gloss back PPF. Not a fan of fake carbon.
They did the drip moldings and the antenna as well. I love it, especially with the car being BGM. It’s a good break up from lights and darks. I can post a video or pic if need be. |

This is floss black ppf on my roof, which doesn’t orange peel like black vinyl. They also have carbon fiber ppf and I’ve heard that looks pretty real compared to other types of carbon wraps, I didn’t opt for it though since the sun roof wouldn't have it and I thought would look odd.

Yup, there are some high end cf "wraps" that look real as hell. I have aeen it on trim parts (front bumper, bottom trim, etc) but would think it would look equally decent on the roof. It is NOT cheap, by any means, so some may say its a rip off. |

Yeah same with my ppf roof, I think i paid about 700 for it vs vinyl which would’ve been a fraction of the cost.

I opted to try the carbon fiber wrap on my old M2C. It looked pretty good I thought. Seemed better than cutting up the roof at the time!

Only pics I have that show it. The lighter color looks great with gloss black up there. It has some imperfections that have “healed” with the sun finally coming out. Overall I love it.
If I built the car again I would def go with a carbon roof though…but I have no complaints about the gloss black look, especially with tint. Gets plenty of positive comments. |

I saw STEK DYNOcarbon PPF in person it looks exactly like real gloss CF, I was impressed. That said IMO it's lame AF. CF is a lightweight expensive material vs a fake lookalike that just adds weight over your metal roof while still being expensive.
