X3M Diff Bolt

Hey guys,

I'm looking to tune my x3m finally and i'm unsure as to whether or not I should do the diff bolt upgrade, I don't launch the car at all and bought it with very low kms.

I do plan on eventually getting the einhorn kit or the bolt saver kit once there are more reviews for it out, however in the mean time is it fine if I run a stage 1 OTS tune and only push it when i'm rolling? Thanks.

Short answer is yes if you're gonna launch. I have an Einhorn sitting on my desk not installed because i'm worried about the NVH. I've not launched but will so i'm contemplating another solution and will be selling the Einhorn (not a knock on Einhorn btw / after further thought a solid bushing is not the way i want to go)

What other solution are you thinking about?

I'm about to get my diff replaced under warranty and am looking at the Vargas lockdown kit but I haven't heard any reviews yet.

Yup, the NVH was my concern too which is why I haven't pulled the trigger yet on it. There's also the bolt saver by clint hightower and I'm leaning towards that as its just the replacement of the inner bushing.

There's a few option out there for sure but not enough reviews and I don't want to be a tester for one of them, vargas kit seems like a solid idea.

I'm leaning towards Clint Hightower's solution most likely but am also considering the VTT lockdown kit. If i were doing it right now the Rennfix by Hightower would be my choice. I keep forgetting about the Ryan Morad solution which looks like an option also. LOL, i guess this explains why i haven't done it yet (although i did already purchase the Einhorn ).

Is there any benefit to running both the VTT kit and the bolt saver?

I just recently installed the vtt insert kit, was pretty easy, very minor nvh when letting off gas, only noticeable if you're listening for it. My oem bolt was still straight, i did a few launches after tuned and it seems to have survived but probably better to do a renforcement kit asap

Interesting thought because both solutions attach it from the opposite side it looks like, hmm haven't heard this idea.

Thanks for your thoughts, I'm definitely leaning towards VTT, I recently saw a post on facebook forums about the unicorn egg causing insane NVH

Yeah, I saw that too! I'm definitely swaying towards either VTT or Rennfix now.
