BMW X1 2022 U11 Kidney Grill Open/Close

Hello Folks,

New to this forum and with the Car

I got on 15.03.2024 a BMWX1 U11 and today I went to work with it, only to later discover that the kidney grill was open and I could see the radiator.I drove around 7km only in the city (max 50kmph) and weather was 10 degree (so not warm and not cold).

I went to parking later on after 20minutes and it was closed but it made me wonder if this normal ? Since the drive was not long, weather is almost cold, speed was normal.

Thanks,
Swetank

Good point that I will check later today.

Entirely normal, they are closed to allow the engine to heat up faster but as soon as the engine is close to temperature they open and stay open until you stop and the engine cools.

Thanks, For the reply.

The radiator is open to see through the grill , this means it will be destoyed pretty quickly since there is no mesh protection on it. Do you guys also have the same ? any suggestions to protect this?

That's how radiators work. Don't worry about it being exposed
