There’s a new update for the my BMW app. And one of the new features is: Comfort Open/Close of windows with Digital Key Plus installed

Is this meant to enable us to open/close the windows via the app? I can’t seem to figure out how to do this.

Anyone know?

Yes you canz there is additional section under current Lock/unlock/....

Try being less than 6 meters from the vehicle, or to click lock button to wake
Vehicle, the new button shall apear below.

I have a feeling that the US and Canada may not get it. Same reason why I can't close the tailgate with my remote I'm guessing.

I think in the US you can only open, but not close. I was watching an X1 video by a US-based bmw dealer where he was showing off the voice control functionality. And he specifically mentions that in the US, voice function only works for opening windows, but is disabled for closing windows due to safety. In Europe, voice function works both ways.

Yes, that was what I was referring to. The window thing doesn’t make sense because they implemented pinch protection decades ago in most cars. Tailgate I can sort of understand, as I don’t know if that has pinch protection or now.

Yeah it really doesnt make sense to omit the feature.

It could be for liability reasons

just checked MyBMW app, nothing, went into car messed around with settings for drive recorder, then noticed a new section in app under remote control ... Comfort open & close ...
This has open and close buttons for sunroof, windows and mirrors.

Also, out of curiosity, when OS are you on? 07/2023? 11/2023? Might be that the car needs updated software for this to work?

Later found out option only shows when close to car
Remote Cameras always show, need to be within Bluetooth range for Comfort Open & Close to appear

Thanks! I’ll try it out later. Although, since BMW announced this as a Spring update, it might be that the car software would also require the spring update (03/2024) like yours.

I tried what you suggested. Nothing worked to bring up the comfort menu.

I think in order for this to work, you need 03/2024 or at least 11/2023 idrive software

Yep in east coast of USA I just noticed an OTA software update took place in past 24 hours. It replaced my 11/2023.25 that came in my 2024 x1 28i. It’s called 03/2024.30

The only difference I noticed so far is a bit more details having to alarm system.

There was nothing to do with ability to open/close windows.

Has anyone in the USA noticed new software & any further changes from your prior software?

Nothing new for the M35 yet. Still showing 7/2024 as most current.

I still have 11/2023.52. My app showed the ability to open/close windows and fold mirrors when I looked last night but not this morning. Will check again later but could be because I’m currently a little bit further away from my car right this minute.

Looks like the app update for Android is live as I just got upgraded to version 4.3.2.
As my phone doesn't support Digital Key, the only change is Charging Statistics.

Still stuck on 11/2023.30, did you do anything specific to trigger that update or you just happened to notice it the other day?
