HERES A NEW ONE. Drove about 45 minutes this morning listening to XM all the way, then parked. When I restarted X1 about 90-110 minutes later no XM stations were shown anywhere. My Radio ID was completely gone. I’ve had many vehicles before with my XM & none of the EVER lost its ID #. WTH
I’ve attached 3 photos of what being shown. Don’t know if it’s related to a BMW or XM issue. I just spent an hour on phone with a XM representative & they could not resolve. Issue was Escalated to another area who is supposed to call me tomorrow between 2-3pm. Wish me luck 🍀 🤞🤞🤞 |

UPDATE: several days after posting the above my 2024 x1 28i with 1000 miles (with ID9 & latest 3/2024 software update in the USA), lost its connection to both Primary & Secondary Drivers as a result of being removed from the MyBMW App by BMW Corporate several times. That means the vehicle did not have any of our preferences & “Hey BMW” voice recognition stopped working. FUNNY thing is the XM radio started to work again & the 1 year free subscription counting days stated 722.
Took vehicle back to service for the 3rd time this month & they worked with BMW Headquarters to understand why were dropped/removed from the MyBMW app several times since updates took place. THE ANSWER: their system flagged our x1 as possibly being stolen. WTF? Well it’s been 24 hours since the dealership reentered our info to get us back into the app & synced with the x1. So far so good 🤞🤞🤞. We can only hope this issue is behind us & NEVER pops up again. |

You're not alone
Everything you listed above happened to me last night on my new X1 with 654 miles.
I too spent hours on the phone with XM without resolve. After reading your post I will call service. |

Good luck. After our major issues in March & taking our X1 in for dealer service several times that month, issues have diminished quite a bit. BMW needed to do a great deal on the backend systems to resolve what we went through. By & large the past 1000 miles since had no major problems.
As your BMW service department works to rectify your problems may I suggest you stress with the service manager how disappointed in the vehicle you are. Tell them that you are questioning your decision to drive a BMW. For you to begin to feel better about your decision to drive an X1 they need to build back the GOODWILL lost by your poor experience. I got back $800 from BMW when I formalized in writing all the PROBLEMS I went through from January through March 2024. 🤞 GOOD LUCK 🍀 |

Unfortunately, I cannot really think of any complaints after driving it for a year. The only issue that I really had was when my iPhone kept losing connecting to the X1, but that was mostly likely Apple's fault. |

i had the same problem this weekend. try a soft reset (i.e. start the car, then hold down the "mute" button for 10 seconds until the screen goes blank). once it rebooted, my siriusxm was back working immediately.

I had the same issue at about 1000 miles. Resent a XM restore signal, no joy. Then I rebooted the head unit... presto, its back.

Well here we go again. Back in March I started this thread when all of a sudden XM radio stopped working for several days on my 2024 x1 28i. After not using vehicle for a day this morning my wife noticed XM doesn’t work for her & I just tried & it’s not working with my key either. Screen says l no subscription & no XM ID # just as it did a few months ago. WTF
I’ve had many vehicles with XM & this BMW (my 1st) has problems remembering XM is free until late December 2024. I blame BMW not Sirus XM for a poor connection. ID 9 is 💩 Spotify, FM & AM are ok. |

This has happened to me twice.. once it came back on its own, the second time the dealer fixed it.
Pretty annoying.

UPDATE: After loosing XM for 1-1/2 days I called XM radio at noon my time. They had me do a hard reset while vehicle was running. When the system came back on XM returned & all was normal. I was told if it happens again BMW may need to do a software update.
Why is ID9 so finicky, crazy & BAD? |

Sorry to hear of your problems. My 2024 X1 has the same problem. XM just goes away randomly. I can usually recover with a reboot.
This is just part of the iDrive 9 beta program we are all participating in. I have had several software updates to the car since I got it back in October. Each one has made the car slightly more stable, so there is hope! |

Agreed, I’ve had numerous issues with ID9 in earlier part of 2024. March & April were the worst for me. But with just 2400 miles on my 6 month old 2024 x1 28i, I can certainly state enough is enough. I’ve previously never had so many issues with any of the new vehicle I’ve bought. BMW should be ashamed with their lack of PDCA (planning, doing, checking & acting) testing prior to launching the system to its customers.
I believe our (3rd Gen x1 drivers) only hope for rapid fixes on the ID9 system is the fact that BMW decided to also put it in their worldwide best selling x3 for 2025. However, with that said I am NO LONGER considering replacing my 2019 Acura RDX with the new X3 come this Fall. I’ll be looking outside of any BMW. Fool me once, shame in you. Fool me twice, shame on me. |

This has happened to me as well and I only have 200 miles on my m35i. I had Sirius refresh the signal four or five times, each time to no avail. I did the reset as recommended and that worked. I hope this quirky problem isn't a sign of the road ahead. My wife already has buyer's remorse after discovering there was no spare tire.

I’m convinced the XM issue is related to the new ID9 not XM corporate. It’s a very quirky system for sure. Most of the major issues I experienced during the 1st 3 months (January through March) & 1000 miles of ownership have resolved with the few over the air software updates during 2024. Hopefully, if XM goes off again the same rebooting method will resolve it quickly. 🤞🤞🤞

By the way, if the issues are sorted out and you guys want to extend after the first year, XM has a $99 for 3 years deal. The deal link is here. It won't work online. Just speak with a live XM rep and they can hook you up. It may take several calls, as not every XM rep is capable of making the offer go through. I let my 1st year end first and waited 2 months. Now I'm on the $99 for 3 years plan. I originally read about it on reddit's XM subreddit... https://www.reddit.com/r/siriusxm/co...on_2023_radio/ 36FOR99SELECT https://care.siriusxm.com/subscribe/...=36FOR99SELECT Last edited by Haebler; 07-12-2024 at 08:46 PM.. |

I had similar issues with my then new Lexus. No signal/ID during multiple phone calls. I gave up.
Randomly it started working again and has been working without me paying (and me telling them) for the last 6 years. |

ID9. I know, let’s put a bug filled system in thousands of cars and see how it goes.
1. Close to six weeks at dealer to attempt CarPlay dropping out. 2. Same XM issue mentioned here.Dealer again. I’m told update to fix coming. I will not hold my breath. Dealers love it. Warranty dollars flow! |

I’ve heard there’s a free update coming towards the end of July. Perhaps the fix you speak of is within it. 🤞🤞🤞
