2023 ix x50
Currently have 2023 x5 e45 and thinking about swapping for 2023 ix.
The ix we are looking at is standard with sports package. Would this be a decent swap? What features of ix stands out other than being full ev? What are your likes and dislikes about the ix Thanks |

Spend some time reading all the many threads on this forum. I think you’ll find a lot of information. You might want to look at leasing a 2024 as there are some great deals to be had.

Not any details to comment on the value proposition of the swap. If your use case does not involve long distant travel AND you have L2 charging readily available mthe IX might be a nice trade. In fact, if your primarily use your X5 45e in electric mode, you would likely enjoy the Ix far more because of its power, battery capacity, and range. The long term reliability of either ride is a bit unknown. I personally would not own the IX without a warranty.

I made a similar swap but went from 23 45e to a 2024 iX50. While I do feel that some parts of the X5 were a bit more luxurious, there isn’t anything I miss on a daily basis. I already had a ChargePoint from when I had my previous 530e and then the X5, so charging at home wasn’t an issue. I went with a 24 iX because of the newer software and driver assistance functions, and my ownership over the last 9 months has been pretty flawless.

I went from a 21x5 45e to a 23 iX 50. I went with a 23 over a 24 to get air suspension (which did get added back as an option later in the year) and 4 wheel steering which is not available on a 24 x50. Overall the only advantages of the X5 were better seats if you have the luxury seating package although I think the leather in the iX is nicer than the merino in the X5 and that with an X5 you can road-trip without worrying about where to charge. Other than that, the iX is better (in my opinion). It’s smooth, fast, comfortable, quiet. And I’ve had no problems with it.

My only dislike is no frunk and limited under floor storage in the back. It has a few minor software changes that could perfect it.

Nothing to really add to the above advantages the iX has to offer, except to reinforce that if you have dedicated L2 charging at home you will love the car.
IF you routinely drive long distances, do some research by using PlugShare; ABRP and EA apps to locate potential DCFC sites that would work for rapid charging whilst traveling. If you live in an area with poor access to DCFC chargers you might want to think twice and do the research. Lastly, given that a ‘24 comes with iDrive 8.5 which the ‘23s can’t be upgraded to, and the ‘24s have the most advanced hands free driving assistance package, I would strongly encourage you to look at the very attractive leading programs on the ‘24s. |
