Day after picking up from PCD and it wants a s/w update
Picked up a new X5 Wednesday at PCD and when I pulled into the garage last night it was already telling me it needed a s/w update…… Oh well, I guess I’ll get to see how that goes. I’ll make sure I put it on a charger before initiating the update.

I didn't want to perform the update before the holiday weekend (in case things went sideways) so I did it Monday with the car outside the garage. Put the car on my 10A charger and started the update. No issues. Was updated from 11/2023.64 to 11/2023.73, installation time apx 15 min.
Hope all future updates go as smoothly.

I’ve had 3 updates since August 2023 and all were without issues. Probably no need to put it on a charger.

There have been a couple instances I’ve read of cars bricking after an attempted update so I also pulled the car out of the garage when I do it too (in case it needs to be towed). I’m superstitious about some things, I’ve found the more prepared for something catastrophic to happen the less likely it is to happen. I carry mini air compressors in all my cars, never needed it for mine but I have used them a couple times assisting other people.

Just a couple of days over a month since I picked up the car at PCD and just finished the 2nd system update. Is this normal? How frequently has everyone else been getting updates?

It is fine. The OTA's are usually issued 3 times a year, your timing just hit it that you got two since the just realize another one this week.
