Feeling lucky to be old!
Awhile back cmyx6go* started a thread called "You know you're old when.......". It's been a lot of fun posting and reading other's posts on this topic. Some hilarious comments bringing back memories from long long ago.
Based on that thread, I thought I'd start a new one called "I feel lucky to be old because......" thread. So, if you are old and you feel lucky to still be standing upright, let us know why. I feel lucky to be old because......? *edited. Initally, I mistakenly posted that I'd started that thread. Of course it is cmyx6go that started one of my favorite threads on this amazing forum. I feel lucky to be old because I can pretend I didn't hear you when I just don't want to answer, and everyone just nods and repeats themselves louder.

Cereal though, because of the diabetes at 14, I never figured I'd get past 55. Living on house money now!!

I feel lucky because I can blame my age for the filter between my brain and my mouth being gone. If it comes in my brain, it comes out my mouth. I shouldn’t be allowed to visit customers anymore. So glad I have others to step in. Even if I don’t speak, my facial expressions and eye rolls can’t be helped.

You are so right. My apologies to cmyx6go. I'd thought I'd started it and I forgot to go back and double-check before posting. I guess it's appropriate...you know you're old when you take credit for something you thought you did. That is so not me. I'll edit the post. Thank you for correcting me.

That's why there is a "You know you're old when" thread, it`s for when you forget that you are old and can`t remember what you did in the past

I feel lucky because so many friends and family members that were my age or younger are gone now and I'm still alive and kickin'. A lot of that is pure luck, as I've had some dangerous jobs in my time and I've done a lot of stupid things that could have turned out badly.

Far too old to know better but at 35 years old I got my first Corvette. A 2001 C5.
One night around 11 pm driving home from Dallas on interstate 45 I was following a 996 911 just itching to mess around but night time and cops kept us mostly behaving. Then we came across a bad accident on the service road. Every cop for 50 miles must have come in to assist but after we passed it we both stomped on it. Limited visibility, deer season, light fog but we still got north of 150 mph before I decided to take an exit and get a sprite at a gas station. So much could have gone wrong that night.

I recently had someone ask me, what was it like growing up in the 80’s? My response, the music and fashion in the early 80’s was great, not so much in the late 80’s. I graduated from high school in ‘81 and it was all about the Police, the Cars, Duran Duran, concert t-shirts and way too much hair product.

It's a feeling thing; you know when it happens, and it's not a good feeling.

Simple. When you have trouble getting up off the floor, you're old.

So true. I was snow skiing yesterday and a couple of young guys were giving me props for being out there cutting it up at "my age". I thanked them and I was flattered for sure, but then I thought, "I don't really feel that old (74 years), I guess I'm lucky to still be able to do this".
