B&W Settings X5M

Just got my X5M looking for a little little bit of insight on where people have set the EQ for the bowers and Wilkins stereo I found a thread with a couple base settings, but I’m just curious what everyone thinks.

I keep mine in Studio Mode, with a slight rear bias and custom EQ setting. I listen to mostly high bit rate electronic music stored on my phone and streamed over android auto via AptX, sound is incredible!

I pull 100hz to smooth out the bass. Bass one to two down from top. Once you get the bass correct, the rest is to taste since we all hear higher frequencies differently.

I have B&W I played with this and couldn’t get it right…,this is controversial lol… but I swear my e46 zhp I bought new…when Harmon Kardon in BMW’s was actually Harmon Kardon, would blow it away. It’s nice, but not the same, I expected a bit more.

So the HK 8 channel 205w 12 speaker system blew away the B&W 20 channel 1475w system???? Perhaps your fond memories are a bit fuzzy.
I listen to Amazon and Apple music, but I use the USB-C from my phone and I have a lot of lossless music loaded.

I have a 2020 Ram with a full custom set of Focals with JBL subs and amps with 15 speakers and the B&W has way more clarity and the bass is very strong. (Does not rattle the vehicle either, but is not as heavy as 12")

Perhpas the sources are the issue.

Yeah, idk, I’m 31 years old, first car was a 330i zhp, maybe it was the smaller interior that amplified it better. I had a 2017 M3 Competion after with Harmon was similar, but the X5 50i I got sounds ick to me. (The 330i… my dad bought new, I was clearly not old enough..but was first car ☺️)

Good callout on the source though, I use apple carplay, might be doing it!

In my previous X5 I had the B&O system and the bass was much better than my B&W in my G05.
I am not impressed...

I had the same impression but after some run-in B&W has a strong bass also

I find the B&W has.great midbass, but doesn't do the really deeeeeep bass all that well. It sounds great, but if you're expecting it to hit the lows like a big, high quality aftermarket sub and enclosure, it just won't.

It can't be expected to compete with an aftermarket system in some ways though. At ~1500W, that's like 75% of the power my sub gets in my TBSS. There's 2 other amps making the same kind of power in it for the front stage.

That said, it sounds great, just can't compete with the power level
