Dealer hit car before delivery
Hey guys I just would like to get some advice. So basically long story short the dealer hit my 25 m4 that I’ve been waiting months for right before delivery. They are offering 500 off msrp for $1500 total because I was getting 1k off before the hit. They said they can paint it and it would be done in 3 days. And guaranteed me in writing that it won’t show on the car fax. Do you take this? I will be pitching not leasing.
Attached are photos thanks

Mistakes happen. Get it in writing that if you're not satisfied with the repair, you can walk. Otherwise, if it were me, I wouldn't take delivery. The $500 is not material in my opinion, although a nice gesture I suppose.

What?? Lol go to the local news channel? What have they done wrong? They are offering to fix the damage, ensure that it doesn't hit carfax, and giving $500. It's not like they are screwing the guy over lol

In life, everything is a negotiation. In this case, the cards are in OP’s hands. The dealer will have a very hard time selling the car to someone else if the OP raises this issue and makes it more public. |

I am thrilled they won't have it on the carfax my second biggest concern is paint matching IOM Green. Repainting the whole bumper and seeing a miss match is what scares me.

After you reach out to local news, I would reach out to this guy:
rob.bonta@doj.ca.gov Attorney General Rob Bonta Office of the Attorney General California Department of Justice 1300 “I” Street, Sacramento, CA 95814-2919 Send him an urgent email and a certified letter. Don't settle for anything less. |

As always, it's about leverage. If you don't accept the car, the dealer will fix it internally, not report it to Carfax, and sell it as new to the next buyer, probably without any discount. Shady? Yes. But we're kidding ourselves if we think things like this don't happen all the time. So they're not going to be motivated to offer you much more than that off the price, because they know they can sell it to someone else.
Ignorance is probably bliss, but you won't have that benefit. If you buy it, I bet it'll bother you throughout your ownership just knowing it has been repainted. And $500 isn't going to make you forget it. Is there a number that would? Even if you get another one, it could literally be damaged the day after you take delivery and you'd have to deal with that. We can't guarantee perfection, but we can put a price on it. I'd ask for a repair plus $1500 off for the trouble/diminished value on top of whatever other deal you originally negotiated. If they balk, I'd walk and order another one from a different dealership.

You got to decide for urself. If this soemthing that will bother u then do not take the car. If you are ok with it I would try to negotiate a little more discount.
As others have said they will fix it regardless and sell to next guy without any discount and on top of that since it’s 25 they will likely get buyer quickly since it’s LCI. Problem is that you live in SoCal. There are lots of buyers…. Personally I would let them fix it. Make sure it looked like never happened and try to get more discount becuase as other have said $500 is essentially nothing. |

Agreed, that would scare me as well. That's why I suggested that they put in writing that if you're not satisfied with the fix, it's a dead deal. At least you have the opportunity to evaluate the work first before finalizing the deal. If they are above board and stand behind their repair process, they should be agreeable to this. Sure, ask for a little more discount for the inconvenience. Ultimately, if you feel like they are shady and would screw you on the repair, you probably shouldn't be buying from them in the first place.

Re-order it from the same dealer. Give them the damaged one back when the new undamaged one arrives. They get their perfectly repaired car back and you get what you paid for.
Everyone wins. |

I would walk away and repurchase from a dealer that would sell you at a better price. $1000 off MSRP from the get go is a deal breaker for M4's right now. M3 I can understand, but not M4's.

Take it. They never had to tell you anything or give you anything. I have seen real damage on transported cars , mileage way above what should be on there , etc etc. This is nothing and an honest dealer is hard to find. If it was bad damage then i’d refuse but that..::shouldn’t even be a question.
Sure the alternative is to wait. I’ve refused cars before and the extra wait is nothing compared to seeing someone else driving the car you ordered. Avoid that if you can It’s not a collector car. I know people HATE when i say that but it’s just not. Enjoy it.

I’d have them repaint and make sure it’s good, then ask for another freebie like wheel and tire warranty at half off or something else. Doesn’t look like a bad impact, more of a scrape.

Looks minor and matching IOMG won’t be a problem at all. I’d ask for a little more or wheel and tire or something else. Wheel and tire at cost is usually $900.
