Interior opinion
I know that these things are much personal opinions but for the sake of conversation..
I initially I went for the oyster interior but after seeing the black one in person and also in videos it looks really clean, sporty and more luxurious I think. I also had oyster interior in my 2 past BMWs and I can say that I am kind of really used to them and never had issues with dirt or clothes discoloration, so dirt this is not a factor on my decision. Car color is space silver so I think it will make good contrast with the black interior. Although I love oyster seats, what drives me really really crazy is the two tone forward panel. Black above, oyster below, oyster around the center panel. It just looks so odd on the forward panels and uneven. And with all these empty spaces available on below the transmission center panel I think that oyster looks bit odd. My VIN is not locked yet so I can make one or two changes till this time. What colors do you have, and did you regret on your choice? |

I am also considering to go on the leather route. Alcantara not much an option since the car is an xline trim.
I am really in the middle. Cant decide, its awful experience. What I want to avoid is to receive the car and then regret that I didnt go other route! Sometimes car delays bring these problems lol |

I have brown (sports seats) & Utah Orange x-line exterior on 2024 28i & think it looks great.
Years ago I had a dark blue Volkswagen Passat with a very light color leather interior & found it got dirty very quickly & Blue Jean rubs off on them as well. But my Red 2019 Acura RDX with a light colored Merino leather still looks like its brand new. My thoughts are the light color would open up the interior feel tremendously & look great. But the black is classic but remember there is no ventilation on the seats. You can’t go wrong either way. |

I have the brown on Cape York Green. I love it. My only criticism is that they used brown plastic for some of the lower parts. I think that might have been better black.

I got the alcantara seats with space silver. Incredible combination, and in my opinion, the best combination available (but I’m biased of course).
If alcantara is not an option, I’d definitely go with the black interior with space silver |

Space silver with oyster interior… every bmw Ive had prior never had an oyster interior option - this really lightens up such a big interior especially with the pano glass roof! Coupled with the dct, digital console and higher ride, it’s a pleasant intentional contrast to driving my M2.

Just my two cents but mine is Storm Bay with black interior, and I love it. My only real option at the time was Sensatec (not leather), but the black has contrast stitching and it looks really, really nice.
I've since seen dark colors with Oyster which also look fabulous (in particular, a San Remo Green with Oyster and Eucalyptus trim stands out for me). But if I were going with Space Silver, I personally would choose the black interior. |

To each their own. We have Space Silver with Oyster and love it. Not a fan of black seats in Florida.

I went with the mocha interior and black sapphire exterior/x-line trim. I love it. I really like the bolstered sport seats. The black exterior makes the shiny black plastic trim that I'm not a fan of mostly disappear. Black maintenance hasn't been much of an issue.
One thing I'm very knit picky about with my interior is the brown plastic lower portion of the front dash. The brown color is sorta meh and it feels cheap. I will add that I was in a 2019 M5 comp a few days ago and the lower dash and door plastic feels as cheap as my X1. |

I think they should have also offered Cognac on the X1. The Oyster is too light for my tastes, so if I didn't get the Mocha interior, I would have opted for black. |

Thanks everyone! I dont know if its just me, but I cant withstand the white coating of the panels everywhere. Its everywhere. Thats bad design imho. If it were only for the seats (like my E87 conv) , I would had gone for it. |

I got Oyster interior. A lot of reservations initially, but so glad I went ahead with it. The interior feels so much more spacious and brighter for a small car like this, and overall this pairs very well with all the sunlight from the panoramic roof.

I had an Audi S3 a few years ago and specced silver nappa leather. I really looked after the car, but the drivers seat started looking bad (discoloured) at the end. Even the valet guy said there was nothing I could do when I came to sell.
Then had a Taycan loaner this week with 7k miles. Chalk leather interior and drivers seat on that also looked bad. So for me personally, I will stick to darker colours. |

I think it also depends on a few factors when it comes to how worn seats get:
+ The smoother leather tends to be more delicate and require more attention + I don't wear jeans much + how people get in and out of the seat I lift my butt up when getting into the car. My butt barely touches the bolster, if at all -- I do that for all cars. Grease/grime/pollution etc kill leather (though not as bad as Alcantara). I shampoo down the seats from time to time using interior cleaners, and I don't really open windows when I drive either. On top of it I have windows film applied. They help to block more UV (can't remember whether it's UVA or UVB that factory side windows/rear glass ain't good at). Between all that, the seats should hold up pretty well. Even 100,000km+ isn't an issue. Still looked pretty new in my other car Last edited by KingSize.Hamster; 05-19-2024 at 11:49 PM.. |

That's the combo we just ordered! The oyster definitely lightens things up. And I didn't like the gloss black trim (fingerprints!), the aluminum trim looked a little cheap, and I think the wood will give it just the right touch.
