New BMW owner with a couple questions.
Hi folks, hope all are well!
I've had my BMW X1 for around 2 mos at this point and I would say I love it 99% of the time. It is a 2024 and had 7 miles when I got it. I have noticed a few things that I would really love some veteran BMW drivers to tell me if they are normal or something going on I should look more into. Thanks! 1) Most of the time, when I come to a full stop then release the brake to go forward, the breaks make a noise. It's hard to describe but it's almost like the brakes are exhaling. Someone told me this is a normal noise with BMW's but I wasn't sure. 2) Another noise is when I really give it some gas there is a (again, hard to describe) whizzing noise. I think it is the turbo but like I said, I am new to BMW so I don't know. 3) Last noise, I promise (haha)...when I am sitting in traffic, not moving, I hear what almost sounds like settling noises. Like a pop here or there. Sounds a little like the popping noises cars make when they are just turned off. 4) Is there any way to turn off the hill hold? If I am stopped at a hill and traffic starts to move I take my foot off the break and I almost have to floor the gas to make the car go. If that is normal, I do not like it at all lol. Am I doing something wrong or is that just how that is? Thanks so much everyone! |

I can't answer to #1 as I don't experience that.
For #2, that is most likely the turbo spooling up, and the psssh you hear when you let off the gas is the diverter valve venting excess boost. #3 I can't help you with as I've never noticed mine doing that. #4 there's a button on your center console near the armrest that says hold. You can turn that off and it shouldn't come back on. It may be convenient to some to be able to take their foot off the brakes when at a stoplight, but I personally don't like it.
