Question NJ Recommended Insurance companies for 18-22 year olds?

My girlfriend and I are trying to get insurance for the cars on our own. shes 18 and I am 21.. I tried a few online quotes and I am getting anywhere from 3500-6000 $ for 6 Months. I have a few tickets. But even on her, she is 18 and she has a clean driving record, and still quotes are coming back at like 4K for 6 month policy. Anyone know where I can get her like 2-3K on a new Car for the whole year. Like $1,500 for 6 months not 6K damnit

What are some of you younger drivers paying on your own policy in NJ??

Have you tried Progressive online quote? They offer insurance sometimes at a discount and they will tell you who else is cheaper. Your ages are what kills the price as well as owning a new car. Cannot piggyback off your parents? Are you both trying to get on the same policy? www.progressive.com www.libertymutual.com

we are just trying to get her her own insurance first. So she can build up and have her own insurance policy

WTF?!

If you guys raise your deductible, it should go lower, albeit I don't know how much. But yeah, everywhere is pretty much the same when you're young.

Are you leasing with BMW Financial? I believe the deductible can be up to $1000.

Doesn't Geico insure NJ drivers now? You can try them.

In the service too and I pay just under 2k for 3 cars and renters insurance. USAA is great. He can still get it if mom or dad was in the service but it has to be one of those.

Question. Any reason not to stay on parents policy? She would say a bundle and the age is what it killer. You will get better rate reduction when you are over 25 and your car is a little older. Always have continuous coverage since they will ask that and if there is a gap its like you never had insurance. I tried to find something but no luck. Good luck to both of you.

I think you may have to wait on the Z4. Taking a policy on your own will be killer right now. Young age has its price but you have your health!

Check AIS.com.. they have good deals. They hooked me up with Mercury.

My Record:
100+ speeding ticket (suspended license)
Totalled Infiniti G35 (my fault)
2 more speeding tickets
and lastly 1 accident

I currently pay $800 / month

But I'm also 25 years old... i'm sure that makes a difference.

raise you deductible to $1000 and your premium will drop. But, if I was you, i'll keep those cars locked up in the garage until I turn 30. I would not pay that much for insurance. good luck. It pays to be old....senior citizen discount (i am not saying i am old but older than you).

Yeah you reached the qualifying age for better discounts. Drivers Ed certificates or school always help and if you are still in school they might offer a discount. The best discount is to be married, over 25, multi car, home insurance and of course no tickets or accidents in the last 3 years. Since you guys are still on your parents policy, do you have yourself listed on the older car and your parent(s) on the BMW? Take yourself off as the primary driver and your rate should go down. Increase deductible to the highest limits that you can tolerate, deny rental coverage, and state that the car will be used for pleasure and not for work or school. Distance traveled is considered.

Do either of you own property? My insurance dropped for some reason when I put that on my record.

Anyway, I'm 25 and my policy is about $2700/yr. With all the tickets I have on my record now I don't think I'll ever be able to switch insurance companies.

try geico. Go with $1000 deductible (which makes sense because you shouldn't claim for small repairs....). I got a quote and got $600/6 months

I was in a bad accident last year (17k worth of damage to my previous car), so my insurance is insane...almost 5k /year. geico was the cheapeast however. by a few hundred bucks.

Artz, if you guys elope this weekend you'll get lower rates!! Make an honest woman of her already! (you hate my guts now don't you... because she's going to see this post and then get "that look" in her eye).

I guess I shouldn't tell you that I pay less than $800 per YEAR.

When I was young (I was once, you know) I had GEICO and they were pretty reasonable.
