Possibility of Highway Assistant
Is there any possibility that the X1 (with driver assistance pro) could also have the Highway Assistant feature unlocked? From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t seem like the hardware is a limiting factor. I just hope that BMW isn’t enabling it for the sake of separating the lower models from the upper models.

I hope they have this option enabled. My X1 is fully loaded so I’m not sure what other hardware it would need. Surely they would be ok with more money if they sell the feature through the store?

Completely agree, the option to purchase would be well-worth it. After doing some more digging through older forums, it seems like the US models seem to have an additional option in the driver assistance settings called “assistant drive plus”, which is the feature we are looking for. I’ve attached the image to this thread. This is the YouTube video from which this came:

Hi all
I have a US model and drivers assistance plus is great. It’s full auto pilot on a divided highway under 40 mph. Above that it does work as self driving for about 10 seconds before you get a warning to touch the steering wheel and then a final warning after about 20 seconds. After that there is a red warning for another 10 seconds and then the car will come to a safety stop which you do not want. Haha. I use this feature very frequently. It’s pretty great. |
